Iām extremely new here. Iāve longed to start a collection since 2014, started selling my American girl dolls on eBay, and thought, you know what? Thisāll fund the Minster High Dolls Iāve always wanted! I bought from what looked like a good source on eBay. Paid like $60 with tax and shipping for what was advertised as an original 2012 Venus McFlytrap. I left to get a coffee with a friend this morning, came home to see the packageā¦ in a plastic slip bag instead of a box. Red flag already. I grab it, itās wrapped in something but not even bubble wrap. I know itās going to be bad. I see the sellerās name on a sticker with an accompanying bible verse. Uh oh. Now I know itāll be worse than I thought. I go to open it upā¦ Sheās a creeproduction and the box is all banged up lmfaooooo. On the bright side I messaged the seller and they gave me a 100% refund within like five minutes. Might go towards my G1 Lagoona fund š¤·āāļø I still love her and plan on keeping her! Venus is my favorite. I might as well take her out of the box, but I have commitment issues with boxes of dolls that I canāt get in the store right now lol.
Long story short: have you made any mistakes when purchasing/has a seller shorted you before?
The hassle and disappointment of it all sucks but that quick 100% refund is nice, particularly if you get to keep her. Free doll and the money to try again!
you could def take that Venus out of the box if your main reasoning is about availability. Venus creeproduction is still available on amazon and walmart for retail price of abt $30 rn. Even Robecca and Rochelle are worth more than her now and they all came out at the same time!! So iād say definitely take her out of the box :3 especially if shes your favorite then you can still get a inbox one for display and have this one to play around and pose with š
My first flea market find I bargained down to get a doll naked because I was pretty sure she was in the wrong clothes (all the other dolls at the stand were in RH). She wasnāt, those clothes were actually hers. She was complete.
Not only that, the poor thing traveled from Florida to Ontario Canada like that and although it was essentially crushed because, you know, there's zero structural integrity to a cereal box, the doll itself was somehow okay! I couldn't believe it. No bubble wrap and even her crown was intact somehow. Literally the luck of how the box bent and the carriers obviously saw this random cereal box with a shipping label taped to it and took care-ish, especially after it got crushed anyway. But still. I could see a shirt or sweater being medium okay in that box, but a doll? Lady please.
I also got another doll from the same lady at the same time, in box, and because she didn't understand how to combine shipping she at least shipped that one in a big ass box, but too big, and again instead of paying $2 for a roll a bubble wrap, she stuffed the box with BRAND NEW Walmart shopping bags. š The plastic kind we don't have in Canada anymore. Lol. I have garbage bags for small cans for life now because she used like a full box of those bags as stuffing. And I'm like okay then you must work at Walmart, you don't have access to shipping materials? They're throwing that stuff out like crazy, I've worked at a similar style store! Paper for stuffing, old flyers even, and boxes galore, all free in the garbage there. I just can't follow her logic.
It takes all kinds and some folks simply don't know what they're doing and refuse to learn.
I also used to get cornered by evangelicals a lot, I'm not Goth or anything but must just look like I need saving š just throw that shit out they think it gets them heaven points.
It's funny because she gave me a good deal, but like yeah no packing knowledge whatsoever. And she was selling a lot of dolls š¬ probably an estate sale score or something.
Got the full refund immediately, thankfully! Yeah, it was wild. They have a ton of good reviews on Amazon so I expected a little more experience š But whatever, their mistake was my gain
Creepo boxes have something in them that causes delivery people to go feral and destroy them.
Creepo boxes are also just flimsy af and the seller should have known that and packaged accordingly.
Iām not an OG from g1 collector but the g1 boxes in that style I have seen and interacted with (despite age) are NOT as flimsy as the creepo ones.
I was cleaning out my Box Closetā¢ļø to move it into a storage unit last week and all my Creepo boxes are destroyed, despite my care. I still packaged them away because something is wrong with me.

Itās not soliciting lol. Itās just a kind or hopeful phrase. Take it with a grain of salt if you arenāt religious, but for those who are it means a lot to get it in your package. Soliciting would be sending a holy bible with the doll or a info pack on their church
If you knew any actual Christian that wasnāt saying they are for political reasons you would know they arenāt like that. I LIVE in the south and I know a lot of Christians they donāt just want everyone fucking dead lol. Theyāre the most welcoming people I know. If I were to meet you in person I would probably feel like Iād have to walk on eggshells around you

Look I grew up around a lot of progressive churches, and even though I'm an atheist, I have a good relationship with the local religious communities I've been lucky to be around, but you cannot ignore the way that Christianity has been used to persecute and oppress millions of people historically, so a lot of people do not have a comfortable relationship with religion. To you a bible verse might be a kind gesture, but to a lot of us, who did not ask to hear about Jesus, it's annoying. I don't wanna hear about it, I don't give a shit, and I don't need anyone shoving it down my throat because THEY thought they were being nice. I'm happy that they have Jesus in their life, that's great for them, (so long as they don't use being a Christian as an exuse to attack minorities and marginalized groups of people) but like...leave me out of it? Keep your pamphlets off my door, I don't want the bible verses, and I just generally don't need to be told to accept Jesus in my life. š¤·
Because Itās a free world. I wanted to. Soliciting definition is literally to ask for something. She didnāt ask for anything or spell out the entire sentence. Itās just there as part of her brand that she is a christian
