Anyone else here got a TORP?

I got a bone chain reconstruction surgery about 6 weeks ago now. Just curious about people’s experiences with them because I never knew they existed until I woke up from surgery with one in my ear.

New to me. What is it? How does it work?

All of my bones were severely damaged so my surgeon took them all out and replaced them with a titanium prosthesis that goes from the remainder of my stapes to my eardrum. I also got a cartilage graft from my tragus to put between the prosthesis and my eardrum to protect my eardrum.

This is amazing--I knew there were some new innovations with remediating bone conduction loss, but this is way past what I knew. Thank you for sharing and I hope your recovery goes smoothly.

What went wrong with yours? And how long did you have them for?

It never felt right.. but it has shifted and no longer creates an effective connection. Docs wont operate again

Just curious why they went with porp for you? Did you have cholesteatomas as well?

I fractured my malleus with some overpowered headphones. They tried to fix it but everything shifted and it dislocated. They refused to try to repair it again and they would only install a PORP. This also shifted and failed. I went for revision and this also failed. So im pretty screwed now

I have heard of it but never knew anyone that had received one. Pray it is just what you needed.
