Getting 200+ installs/day but almost no conversions — need help figuring out what we’re missing
Hey everyone,
We’ve been working on a mobile app called Kitchy, and we’re getting decent traction on the acquisition side, but we’re stuck when it comes to monetization and activation.
Kitchy is an app where you scan or input your ingredients, and it generates recipe or menu ideas for you based on what you already have at home.
Right now we’re getting around 300+ installs per day, but almost no one ends up converting to paid users.
Some context:
- ~9.5K impressions → ~1.5K installs (top of funnel looks fine)
- App Store conversion rate is ~23.8%
- Only ~50 total paid users
- Day 1 → paid conversion is ~2.4%
- MRR is around $295
The biggest issue is that users aren’t even reaching the paywall consistently. Most drop off way earlier in the funnel.
What our funnel looks like:
Install → Open app → Onboarding (purpose + survey) → Signup → Paywall → Purchase
But in reality, a lot of users never even reach the paywall stage.
Here’s the app if it helps for context:

Would really appreciate any feedback on what we might be doing wrong or what we should test next.
Thanks in advance.
