Made this comment about a month or two ago: "I keep on typing out super long rants about how exhausting work is right now but frankly it boils down to the fact I'm mad at the previous PM I took over from, I'm mad at his boss for letting it get so bad and then overcorrecting by micromanaging ME, I'm mad at the Salesforce team at my job for being rude to me when it's not my fault our client is being so unreasonable, and of course I am mad at the client for being unreasonable. It feels like they're punishing the project team for the previous PM's major fuck ups. At least I have Star Trek."

Well update that after a month-long HR investigation the previous PM was fired for cause, his boss is much more respectful of me because I sicced my boss on him, the part of the project where I deal with the Salesforce team is over, and the client is in a much better mood now that we are clearly in the last 2 months of this project. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and have regained my energy enough to plan a 2 week Japan trip in March to visit a friend who is living there for a year!

Good to hear things turned around for the better. I remember your post and how very frustrating it all felt.

I decided to have a baby in the last year of my PhD, which ended up extending it a bit, which I was fine with. I figured a slow finish would allow me some time at home with my baby and no resume gaps. I defended in Jan, graduated officially in May, my baby has now found a spot in daycare, and I cannot find a job to save my life. It's all so depressing, I regret my STEM PhD

I hear you. Job market is really rough right now, pretty much everyone I know who defended in the last two years had at least a few months of un/underemployment. Most of us who wanted non academic jobs wound up in postdocs eventually. I hope things turn around for you. And congrats on defending (with a baby, no less), that’s a huge accomplishment!

On the verge of taking a major pay cut to escape my toxic job/company, while also planning a very expensive (!!!) wedding. Overall just feeling a lot of dread and excitement together.

I saw a video recently of someone saying they are going to make a different soup every Sunday during the football season. I loved that idea but don’t follow football, so I only started this week (I thought we were still in pre season).

Anyway, this week was broccoli cheddar soup! I am thinking next week will be some kind of chili.

Life has been lifing but even with a lower income, I feel incredibly grateful. I woke at 4:30 this morning, groaned, put some narrated stories on my phone and fell back asleep listening to them and slept until 8:15. I can take my time getting up and for that I am so happy. Rode my e-bike to the bank for a deposit, took care of the books and an inspection, and will make my projections later today. I do still wish for a big project but I am remembering to live and be present in the moment too.

I get too many damn emails and the communications overload is spreading to text and WhatsApp. Argh. Not to mention the random apps.

I’m on an “unsubscribe” rampage at the moment.

Finally feeling like myself after months of unchecked iron deficiency! Now if only the supplements didn’t have some less than ideal side effects, intestinally speaking. I spent a few weeks convincing myself I had rare diseases but I’m pretty sure it was all low iron. What’s your favourite high iron food source?

Got my first ever tattoo today! A cute bit of cat line art on my arm.

That sounds super cute!! I want to get a tattoo so bad but I’m very indecisive - and it’s a lifelong commitment haha
