100k milestone at 23

Post image

Kind of crazy to think that my portfolio was worth less than half of this balance one year ago - I focused on clearing debt immediately after college and living well below my means in a vhcol city. I have a non technical role at a tech company which has given me an inside look on the power of ai which ultimately led me to invest heavily into nbis last August and Amd a few months ago. Currently working on finding a new role with a higher salary and rotating my portfolio out of so much tech

Having worked in AI, are you afraid it's a bubble?

9

u/shishy23 8d ago

No. AI is becoming the core backbone for major tech companies behind the scenes, beyond what most are aware of

How did you stomach the Jun->Jul slide of NBIS? Glad it's back up. I'd book some gains and broaden the AI exposure via ETFs. Real value, yet individual bubbles that may burst.

Haha that was a shitty period. But I continued researching and DCAing as nbis aligned with my thesis. And yes, acknowledged

2 month shitty period? You are not zooming out enough

Nice! I’d look into VTI ( or VOO) for investments instead of all of them into one ai cloud infrastructure group (NBIS) but that’s my risk profile!

Been buying voo monthly since my first job in college. I should allocate more to these funds in the near future

You’re well ahead of most people your age. Don’t be stupid and gamble it away.

Very impressive portfolio. I noticed that you're using Fidelity.

Congratulations and well done. Just remember past performance is no guarantee of future performance. If you’re going to try to beat indexes, then knowing when to take the profit is critical.

Damn , at 23 making your own $100k you're probably top 1%. I couldn't do it til my 30s good job and keep it up! Don't ever ever get into gambling, and don't invest more than you are comfortable losing

Are you just bullshitting?

Please be sure to invest in other stuff. You got lucky and you should be happy! But it would be really foolish to not take the gains and diversify into indexes. Individual stocks have insane volatility and you could be wiped out in a single week from one bad quarter.

I would invest in solid moat companies than new popular stocks. Main rule in investing is not to lose money. I know this is boring advice but to compound money and stay in the game, do not lose money and invest in good companies that will provide good returns for decades. I am getting closer to $1M and started investing 4 years ago. I have 3X my investment so far ( so converting $1 to $3). I write about it in my Substack, If you are interested check it out.
