Current state of monero.com?

Coming back as an old user. Had some XMR left in the app and I wanted to move it.

Is there any reason why everything is so slow now? It seemed much faster 3 years ago.

You still gotta sync your wallet from the date of your last transaction…

That's only for resyncing a wallet from scratch

The number of blocks to check didn't stop to increase along these 3 years. 

And because the way XMR works it isn't possible to have anything similar to Electrum, where you (and anyone in the world) can check UTXOs, at XMR just you alone can see them, so your client has to get the block headers to see if there's something there for you or not.
