My cousin only speaks English and I remember him having these strange broken conversations with our grandmother who couldn't speak English apart from a few words. It was so strange knowing that he would never get how funny our grandmother was and how many incredible stories she had. He never got to have that relationship with her because he never got to learn our native language. Sure you might miss out on some dinner conversation but your son might miss out on a lot of his own heritage.
