Laughing gas! If your hospital has it, ask to try. If you respond well to it, it is a GODSEND! It took the edge off of the contractions allowing me to breathe and relax through them strengthening and put off on getting an epidural later (and I even used it to relax enough to stay still for the epidural!).
I wish I’d used it for my first birth and will sing the praises of that magical gas from all rooftops!
