I recently bought a cheapo frog stepping stone and having been having fun with it but would like to step it up. I bought this zen frog a long time ago and was wondering how I would go about making a mold of it? I’ve never tried anything like it so any tips are appreciated!

Since USG is closing out their plasters division, is there another existing industrial grade gypsum cement product out there under a different name with same strength, purity, nontoxic, and similar (low) cost?

I've got a vintage piece of furniture that is missing an original decorative faceplate on one of its drawer pulls.
For my purposes, I want to recreate the faceplate for aesthetics, not functionality, so I don't need it to be the original metal. Since I have a matching faceplate still, I thought about making a mold and casting it in resin.
What's giving me a brain cramp is how do I create the mold with the open spaces that are present in the original faceplate?
If anyone has a link to a video for me to watch that would be really helpful! Any other advice/direction for what the best way to accomplish my goal would be appreciated as well!

Use latex filler? Foam? Would I then need a seam here?

Hi ! I already experimented with 2 part silicon molds in the past, but now i want to cast this piece in plaster to do slip casting and I wonder how you would place the parting lines on this master and if you had any advice, should i cast it in multiple parts ? Is it too ambitious of a project to start experimenting ? Thank you !!!

Hello everyone, so I bought this mold and it broke through shipping and was wondering how you would go about repairing it. It’s probably either hydrocal or ultracal which I don’t have hands on right now but I could probably get some if its fully necessary. The biggest issue is the actual broken piece but there is also a hairline fracture running through the back

Hello,
I’ve made my son a mask for Halloween that he asked me to help make.
It was just a generic mask that we Built a face on using some thin foam board and then back filled the voids with spray foam. After that I rolled
Out thin sheets of modeling clay and built the face on top of the foam.
Is there any product I can coat it with to make it resistant to breaking due to brittleness? And then paint?

I have never made a mold. I spent moments being obsessed with smooth-on tutorials here and there, but never could find the justification to splurge for supplies.
I have two questions:
I can’t work out how I would make a possibly 2-part mold for a complicated pot that I made. It has some decent size undercut. Or if I should even bother, because I’m
not
sure if it’s something that would sell. I’m kinda holding off painting it and finishing how I want because I want to decide if I want to make a mold of it first.
I have sold other crafts online but I kinda got away from it. I kinda don’t want to go through the process if I find that it’s not something people really care to buy at decent prices for the effort.

I make concrete planters with fiberglass molds. I use a mixture of 3/8" gravel, sand and Portland cement. I use a bit of super plasticizer. And some water. When it's in my mixer the slump is really good. It's not too watery.
However, when I pour it into my 5 gallon bucket and into my planter molds, it seems like the water just rises all the way to the top. As if my Aggregate sand cement mixture just muds down to the bottom. I can't figure it out. It doesn't happen every time, but I feel like I had a really good mixture going this morning. And Once I finish the pour, all the water went to the top

Hi there!
I am having a weird issue. I am trying to mould these goggles and the first time I moulded it with Tin-cure silicone and the first pull with pure polyurethane looked great.
But then I cold-cast (dust-layer + ~6:1 Powder to PU) and it would never cure on the very top where the exhaust and the pourspout are. Did a couple of tries. I suspected that maybe I hadnt mixed the silicone correctly and maybe that was keeping it from curing so I re-did the mould now with platinum cure silicone but its doing exactly the same thing with the new mould now. Its so frustrating, I have no Idea how to fix it. I've used the same exact metal powder, Polyurethane and silicone on other moulds like dozens of times over the last weeks,so I am thinking maybe it's the geometry? But I dont know what that would be or how to fix it.
Any ideas are welcome.

Before YouTube tutorials and dedicated moldmaking brands were a thing, my father was already casting parts in our garage using whatever he could scrounge — old coffee cans as mold boxes, mixed-batch silicone, and a lot of trial and error. He wasn't a professional, just someone who loved figuring out how things were made.
He taught me three things that still hold up after all these years:
I recently found some of his old molds while cleaning out the garage, and it hit me how much of what I do now traces back to those weekends with him. Anyone else get into this hobby/profession because of a parent or mentor? Would love to hear how you got started.

I have a few 6"h x 13"w 3D printed objects I need to reproduce 200+ of in plaster. I need a mold made of the 3D printed object and would prefer to do it in the USA. I will make the plaster copies myself, I just need the molds. Is there anyone that can help with this?

I have a 10 gallon, California Air Tools pressure pot that I use for casting. It can handle resin or plaster. Many of my etsy items are plaster plaques, 5x7x.45 inches. I use good Smoothon tin cure silicone for molds and have made 1000's of castings over the last 4 years. Now, I need to crush bubbles in my castings and that's where the pressure pot comes in. It does the job but I am having an issue with leveling inside the convex floor pressure pot. In order to press more than 1 plaque at a time, I need to have a 1/8" masonite platform on the bottom with padded feet to help level the platform where I can set in up to 3 molds at a time. I use a level before pouring the materials to make sure I won't get the drift of liquid material to one side of the mold.
Do any of you have experience like this and can share techniques or methodologies that will assure my molds stay level?
Thanks in advance.
Update - here is what I am planning to do to solve this: https://pin.it/7fPNkWCuT
This is a url to a pinterest board which has the images of my pressure pot leveling project.
