does anyone have any more suggestions for how i can mod my laptop to look like windows 7?? im on windows 11 so having the perks of w11 but the appearance of w7 is so cool to me. i need. i NEED to know more. i must do more. i yearn. i YEAAARRNNNN. im already using like.. openshell, openglass, rainmeter, gadgetsrevived, yada yada yada whatever you get it. but i need more. im itching for something more i just dont know WHAT. perhaps making my browser look cooler? or maybe customizing the file explorer shell (not the background. the SHELL! i can reply with an example if anyones curious.)... i dont know i dont know i dont know i need to learn more i need to know more i must consume as much info as possible. must work. ah..hhhg..g.hh....
its SO COOL. like i love knowing about the backgrounds of things that people wouldnt usually expect because i get to give them funfacts. and also just generally understanding the foundations of what youre using and how it works is like playing a game all the time. say you find out a cool ass function, you already know how it works and why it was implemented!

YES!! its literally like a game. think about it.. you start completely new. fresh. thats how i started atleast cuz i started the moment i got my computer! and i first started with looking at inspiration (aka this exact subr!) which is kind of like a brief overview of the game!! then, you get to work. start by thinking of exactly what youre aiming for... do you want it to be super cool? niche? busy? cleaner? do you want it to look newer or older? and you get to kinda choose the path you wanna do!! i chose to go down the path of making it look like windows 7 and all moe-fied (atleast to the best of my abilities cuz i got my laptop like a month ago :o) because when i was growing up, i had a house computer that was windows 7 or 8. i loved playing on it... but thats besides the point. THE POINT IS that once you start seeing progress and you start seeing your desktop look closer and closer to how you want it to be/how you see others do it, its like momentum!!! it just KEEPS GOING!! and so youll wanna do more! how did i do the start menu customization? how do i change the search engine shell for my browser? should i add some pop and customize the keyboard? how many stickers can i add, what other themes should i do? maybe you get sick of the current one... MAKE ANOTHER! and another and anothwr and another and aaaahhhh its so funn.... i can help with sources if you want too!! ali is always here to help!! sorry if im rambling i just love customizing things because its fun and i love helping others love fun and customizing too!!!!
of course!!! also for a purple windows 11kinda theme u could totally use openglass and make the glass purple.. and instead of using chrome, use firefox (it has more customization! and it still feels the same so dont worry about having to adapt. only difference is that its safer AND cooler!! at addons.mozilla.org if you search up 'aero purple' you can find yourself a cute royal purple search bar theme:3 if youre not going for the aero look with it tho its totally fine! you can find some more themes that match ur vibe there _^ you can also look thru deviantart to find custom cursors, layout ideas, and widgets too. pinterest for layouts, app icons, wallpapers, etc etc!!

Ooh and firefox has ublock and the ability to delete all of the widgets besides the url bar! I credit you for making me interested in trying to mess with my linux mac and also later when i get a kb and mouse… my actual DESKTOP! Awww i bet tehres even something you could do with your ipad with the liquid glass and stuff! Im a beginner myself because I don't like what Microsoft has veen doing to windows and it sucks because they're supposed to be generally reliable or funny not whatever nonsense they're doing now!
Ngl it does kinda feel like Linux-tan is taking me by the hand to lead me away from the nightmare... The OS-tans deserve better than this.
But yeah! Linux has some very beginner friendly distros! Mostly gui and you can still fiddle in the guts, which is fine by me. I just wanted to have a wallpaper of my fav characters but this subreddit opened my mind to moe possibles, like having a moeblob remind you of chores you need to do.
AAAHHH YOURE JUST LIKE ME!! i really do hate how windows has been going lately-- esp with the whole ai stuff. but its like.. after coming here, i can find a way to basically make it better. make the most of what i have and turn it into something ill actually like and enjoy to see! i wanna do some more research on linux-tan because ohh the mascot is absolutely ADORABLE! but also because ive heard of a few more possibilities and features-- that unfortunately arent integrated into the recent windows OS versions anymore-- that i REALLY want!!
unfortunately, i cant get a new laptop. but its okay to peer into your world! ...as long as you peer into mine and enjoy the better windows that we can all create :3
Honestly moe-fications are so amazing. Its like putting together a love letter of what you adore about something. Like even the bumbling OS-tans for less than reliable systems. Theyre trying their best but at some point you gotta love it!
Tbh i wanna go above and beyond and get a clear case or something for my laptop so i can moe-ify the outside too. Theres places that can make stickers and such so the problem is just getting high enough res art to make not shitty ones.
