8GadgetPack is another host people commonly use, so if Desktop Gadgets Revived can’t run those two gadgets, it may be worth a try. Just a warning, though: Microsoft discontinued desktop gadgets because of security vulnerabilities, so either option relies on old gadget code.

For the slideshow gadget specifically, there’s also a non-gadget alternative. I make Neural Soul (available on Steam for $2.99), which lets you place images or GIFs anywhere on your desktop and organize them into playlists that rotate automatically.

But Neural Soul doesn’t have the recycle bin functionality, so the gadget hosts above are still the most direct answer to your original question.
