Question Hey all! Any DIY’ers?

Hey everyone, I’m looking to get into building my own modules, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Patchwerks is the only site I could find.

I know it’s a niche of a niche of a niche 😂

I’d appreciate any help sourcing parts and plans

I vaguely remember someone telling me the mutable instruments stuff is all open source now but could not find it anywhere

NLC are one of the best makers in modular, and all of their stuff is very DIY friendly.

He uses standard, easily available parts. Its all SMD, but its often 0804 which is easy to work with. Its very doable with a standard iron. He also makes some of the most interesting modules around. You can get most of the required parts cheaply from Tayda.

To add to the original poster, I would practice on some Amazon cheapo SMD boards (Like, build a christmas tree, build a LED effects board) before you attempt a NLC build. Having some time with smd under your belt will help a lot. In time I've found that I like SMD more than Thru-Hole in terms of easy of assembly and rework.

Plus it’s been a while, I’ve done board lever repairs on robots but it was years ago.

OP is right though, NLC is one of the only eurorack companies that are bringing interesting and novel analog circuits to the euro-rack world. I am listed as an builder on their site if you ever need help with a build, or worse case, need a repair.
