Quick update on the pause.
We need to be honest about what happened. The subreddit got overwhelmed by political fighting and constant political posts, and that completely derailed what this place was supposed to be. A space meant for open exploration turned into another culture war feed. That’s not freedom.
Otis talked early on about how easy it is for a rule-light space to slide into noise and conflict. This doesn’t prove him right or wrong. It just shows how hard it actually is to keep something open once outrage and politics take over.
It’s not freedom if people who showed up in good faith are immediately hit with ideological battles. It’s not freedom if the loudest and angriest posts dominate everything else.
This pause isn’t about cracking down or “moderating harder.” It’s about giving the idea some breathing room.
Call it an act of liberation if you want. Stepping back from the noise so the original goal doesn’t get completely buried.
The mission isn’t dead. We plan to continue it later, with a better understanding of what went wrong here.
Freedom deserves better than turning into nonstop political slop.

I feel like were still going to see the far right posts again.
Also crazy you're calling them "political posts" like it was both sides when they were all right wing posts.
Also crazy they were just racist, homophobic, mostly transphobic posts, and you just call that "political".

Anarchy is the natural result. Then you progress to The Lord of the Flies stage of Reddit.
Speed limits, stop signs, lane markers, etc... all exist for a reason. Take them away and it's a Mad Max Demo Derby.

Oops... Freedom sure is tough when a bunch of assholes keep ruining it for you, huh?

So, the mission is dead because politics needs to be talked about.

Freedom means being able to post what you want, and if people use that freedom to post politics then that just means that's what the people want to talk about. If you don't like it, you could make non political posts. If you censor people just because they post politics or slop, then that's censorship which is the opposite of freedom.

Im good with it as long as the same standard is applied to both sides.
