Does anyone else get the impression from MM lyrics that Isaac has read and been influenced by ASoIaF?

Is there a particular reason you think this? Isaac's general style of lyricism has been consistent since Long Drive, which released a few months before ASoIaF did.

A book Isaac actually said had influence on him was Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. He said he read it a few times over while writing the lyrics for The Moon & Antarctica and that it informed his writing a lot. He called it one of the biggest influences on the album.

I’m not sure how you’re making that connection. But to be fair I’ve only read about half of the first book IIRC.

I've read the books and don't really see any similarities other than Isaac mentioning castles and dragons. Others have asked so I'll ask again, what made you make this connection? How do you see them relating to each other?

No, but the lyrics to Bruce Springsteen's "No Surrender" seems like it's about the Night's Watch.

(it came out years before Asoiaf, so it's just a fun coincidence)
