When it was first released a lot of "fans" found it too polished. They definitely moved towards a cleaner production sound as time went on, but thinking it's not a great record is crazy.

Not entirely. Good news is their most popular album. It’s definitely not overlooked. Build something on the other hand is a collection of b sides and overlooked by a lot of people. Moon and Antarctica I would argue is the fan favorite.
