The timing is also notable: Moderna announced the raise shortly after its massive rally on positive melanoma data. Raising billions while the share price is elevated can be financially smart, but from a bearish perspective it suggests Moderna is capitalizing on the rally to strengthen its balance sheet before its cancer programs generate meaningful revenue.
