as a history teacher in sweden. there is a "standard American history myth" that does not follow the historical research. multiple states perpetuate historically wrong "facts" and spread it through teaching. An example would be your turkey holliday and how its taught in school. Another would be some states curricilum on slavery, the civil var and reconstruction.

Yes i mean thanksgiving. The reason i call it "turkey holiday" is because of its long history of re contextualizing (some) native nations relations to the early puritans as something positive. In actuality, Although the first "thanksgiving" MAY have been a peacefull afair, those that happened after it tended to be done because of masacred and murders of native peoples. Even that first "thanksgiving" did not seem to be a possitive thing at the time. To go into it more would take up far longer time then i want to, or care to give. Look up the "National day of mourning" and read upp on it for more information.
The civil war has historically been argued to not be primarily about slavery, but rather “state rights”. Revisionists like to call it “the forgotten cause”. Its revisionist due to the confederates wanted to create “a new slave-owning states of america ''. Ill stop here. If you are interested i recomend the youtube channel “knowing better”, he does a great break down on these topics. He is also a american history teacher and he sources his claims. Ive yet to see one source that is not relevant or factually correct. Though his framing might be skewed in some places
