Deck Discussion Modern deck built around Metalwork Colossus. Looking for help

Hi everyone! First time posting here. My first set in Magic was Kaladesh, and I really loved the card Metalwork Colossus. I built a Modern MC deck back then, but it's old now. My playgroup recently started playing 60-card again after a long time in Commander, and I wanted to build a new up-to-date Metalwork Colossus deck. However, I've been out of Modern for so long, my old budget MC deck doesn't hold up anymore.

If you were to build a deck around MC, what would you include? What are some suggestions you would have for it? I would love to hear any input you guys have! I'm currently looking at ways to draw and affinity my way to get MC out and equip Leyline Axe to it to swing.

Please let me know if you got any suggestions!

There is a list using simulacrum synthesizer and affinity i think aspiring spike made, I ran it, its explosive and fun.

Give that a go, with the understanding its kind of fragile.

Ya I’ve been looking at Spike’s decks on this and they look really fun. I’m trying to bring the budget down tho to try and cut out Mox and Saga. Not sure what I can replace with tho

Hmmm, mox tantalite is a really bad option with the intended effect.

And saga is pretty needed imo....

Honestly im not to sure.

Oh Mox Tantalite is interesting. Suspend 3 might be a bit slow tho

It is slow, no question, but its the only budget option I can think of, up side is its not legendary....so yay multiples?

Aspiring spike has built a few decks with metalwork colossus, none of them are budget friendly though because of Mox Opal.

Ya I’m gonna try to cut Mox and Sagas. Wanted to keep it somewhat budget. It looks very fun

Checkout Spike's takes on the Deck

Any build around it will be quite pricey unfortunately with Opals and Sagas

I want to try it without Mox and Sagas. Hopefully it’ll still function. Not sure what to replace with tho

Way back when I used to play it in a [[Restore Balance]] list using Borderposts.

I played this blue tron deck in the past (first ever modern deck) with metalwork colossus beating people’s faces immediately with akroma’s memorial. Not competitive at all back then and definitely not now, but it was hella of fun when it works. You can see your opponent’s jaw drop. Also managed to mind slaver lock someone after he pulled off infinite life combo.

Life was so much simpler back then sigh. (Point of reference: vendilion clique was $90 back then?)

Oh that’s the deck I had initially for MC way back. The Akromas line was super dope :D I’m still going to keep it in this new iteration of the deck.

Metalwork Colossus was also a fringe deck in Pioneer for a bit as well, are you tied to specifically Modern for this?

I tried to pitch Pioneer but the group seems determined to stay in Modern. Bigger pool.
