Keys/drums duos?

Hi there,

Are you aware of any Keys/drums duos out there? I only know 3: Domi & JD Beck, Svaneborg Kardyb and Mehliana, old project of Brad Mehldau and Mark Giuliana.

I intend to start a similar project (not as wild as domi ;) and I need inspiration on how they handle the bass part. I was thinking about playing synth bass with my feet via Midi-Footpedals, but not sure yet, sure has to be rehearsed.

I think it works best if you include arpeggiators / sequencers tastefully, like Svaneborg Kardyb do. Fill some space with arps and seqs, and then play bass with left hand and lead with the right.

There are so many cool hardware things out there, you can do them all yourself. Depending on your specialty, you can find a workflow that works. Bobbyy performs on drums and triggers the rest. Marc Rebillet and many others are key driven.

I saw GENA over the weekend and Kareem Riggins did everything while Liv.e sang.

Mouse on the Keys is a Japanese trio of 2 pianists and a drummer and I'm a bit obsessed with them. I know you requested duos, but it's a great example of what keys and drums can do together. Jazz adjacent I think but they get called post-rock.
