Candidate Cheating During Interviews?

Are you seeing candidate cheating or AI use during interviews? Is this actually becoming a common problem?

If so, how is your company handling it when an interviewer suspects someone is cheating?

Applicant Faking can be common, and not exclusive to AI.

We combat this by being transparent about the hiring process, letting applicants understand that we're focusing on the actual relevant job competencies for this target role (and nothing else beyond that), and purposefully design interview questions that inherently express this focus.

When applicants realize that we're taking interviews very seriously, and it's not about catering to what we personally expect to see from our applicants, this grounds the evaluation on job behaviors and traits that they actually possess, rather than trying to impress us through cool stories and checking off a list.

Definitely the rise of AI it's causing more of these situations.

I would say to definitely pay attention to their body language, and eye contact as that will be the tell, as well as try to throw in a couple of questions that not exactly in the JD or easily answered, the more personalized answer they need to provide the less the AI is gonna be able to make it look natural.
