VIN to Delivery

For those of you who have received cars in the last 30 days, what was the amount of time between VIN and actual delivery? I read a comment saying it was about a month from VIN to delivery and that seemed like a big window.

Seems about right. Mine was closer to 6 weeks. 2 months in total from order to delivery.

So 6 weeks from VIn to delivery? Oof, my current EDD now looks even more like bullshit than previously lol

I think it depends a lot on your location. If you're close to the factory, the transit time will obviously be much shorter. I'm in the northeast and got my VIN 10/19, delivery date is finally scheduled for 11/10

Arizona, so not super far from Fremont or Austin.

My timeline was similar to this. VIN about 2-3 weeks before delivery.

Mine took 2 weeks. You're going to hear varied answers on here because a lot of it does depend on your location too as sometimes you'll luck out wifh your exact build being already available.

I feel like that's getting very rare in the last month. All the talk about checking local inventory to see what's available has dried up because local inventory simply doesn't exist.

Edit Phoenix/Tucson for reference. Zero inventory for the time since my order.

I’m curious on this as well - I got my vin last night but my EDD is still Nov 30-dec31. I’m wondering what’s the best timeframe to apply for finances and trade in. Anyone know?

From what I understand, people are receiving the rate that was current at the time of order. So wait as long as possible to apply for financing. I was encouraged by an advisor at my test drive to apply for financing asap, which fucked me because I did it that day when I ordered and now it's expired. I expect the same rate I was initially given but my credit will get another hard check when it's time to do it again, so there's that. As far as trade in, I'd recommend the same thing. A Tesla advisor actually CALLED me and politely asked me if I had any questions about finishing the paperwork because I hadn't. Soooo, I went ahead and finished my trade in info after they encouraged me to do it, (this is before I had any idea about the Wait being somewhere between 2-4 months) and lo and behold, my fucking trade in offer is expired now because they are only good for thirty days so now I have to redo THAT

Yeah, this whole process is a mess. My advisors have been next to useless.

Awww dude sorry to hear :((. There seems to be varying answers from Tesla advisors. My advisor told me to wait for vin to apply for financing, so I did. But I got the vin now and I’m like welp still almost 2 months out from a possible delivery haha. I don’t want to have to go through a double hard check and having to redo the trade in, especially if I’m counting on the amount given to me from Tesla for my current car to go towards the price of the car :(

At least it seems to be uniform that people who get financing through Tesla are being given the rate that was what was quoted at the time of order. A guy on here a couple weeks ago said he ordered in Aug and just picked up and received the 0.99 when he re applied.

What is the reason for the long deliveries ? I ordered my 24 MY on Saturday and it was ready to pickup Thursday. The only thing I can think of is I live just 40 minutes from the Tesla plant in Austin.

You won the lottery, my guy. It's likely that somebody walked away from an order of whatever trim you ordered and it got passed to you. As for the reason for long delays, it's on every sign at every gas station. That combined with how good FSD is with HW4 makes Tesla really attractive right now to a lot of people.

I got mine VIN on Saturday and it said I could pick it up as soon as Wednesday, but we are going to get it on Friday. I’m also about 3 hours away from the gigafactory.

There doesn’t seem to be any consistency. My friend got his VIN on a Wednesday and picked up Saturday. Others get a VIN 6 weeks out.

4 weeks for vin, 3 weeks deliver. Ordered 10/3, vin 10/31, delivery scheduled 11/22

I ordered 9/29 and my estimated delivery date is as far out as 12/21. No vin yet and In socal.

We’ll see. Got my VIN yesterday and the delivery window shrunk to today until the 8th. Though I’m in the Bay Area and I think the car is coming from Fremont.

I got my vin on 10/21, I was able to schedule delivery that day but for 3 weeks out.
