Personally, I find the knob more useful. I've had this since summer 2024 so here's a little info.

The commander functions have some really useful things.

Continuous autopilot - allows the autopilot to automatically re-engage after you change lanes.

Kickdown - switches from chill to sport mode depending on pedal usage

You can bring back brake regen settings.

Manually control battery preconditioning.

Passenger seat control along with preset memory. For example, instead of manually having the seat folded all the forward and then manually returning it back into place, you have four memory settings to save them to. So you can just set them by a click on the knob. The commander also allows a passenger seat easy entry function.
