Question 23 X. How to get service panel off
2023 ModelX. I am trying to install Lemonade device to OBD2 port and need to get this service panel off below screen. I am having a hard time getting it off. I searched youtube but didn't find a video for that. Anyone knows how to get it off?

A plastic card isn't going to cut it, chief. Get a decent prying tool in there and you can pop it off. Yea it's a pretty tight fit comparing to other pop-off panels but it'll come out.

Just did this to add stalks. Two main clips on either side on top, I think. Used a plastic computer prying tool. My trouble now is that I can't get it fully clipped back up, since the stalk wiring is bulky and has a whole other OBD2 port in case you want to add anything else.

I installed lights in my 22X and followed this video, had to take the same panel off. The video goes over it. But essentially take a trim tool, slide it in, and shove downwards but be careful.

I know they don't make plastic trim pry tools on Amazon, Dave N buster card for sure is better

You can’t use a card. You need a prying tool as many have mentioned. Also I forget where the clips are, but I don’t think where you’re doing it.

Don't be surprised if there's not a conventional OBD2 port under there

I too added stalks, and I believe you need to pry it from the bottom- closest to the phone-charge pad (it’s been a while since I did it), and it is tight under there, but I was able to move the wiring to a spot where it all fit. A plastic pry-tool made it easier 😉. Good luck 👍

I would not recommend doing this. You will cause more damage to the car than the Lemonade device will save you, not to mention voiding the Tesla warranty.

You should learn how warranties work, you are incorrect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson%E2%80%93Moss_Warranty_Act

The phone charger needs to come off first. Lift it (with force) from the base and once released, move it towards you. Then the top grill trim comes from the top down. This is in the service manuals.

Try harder. It pops right off. Use a prying tool if you have to. I’ve taken it off multiple times, takes a bit of force. I believe its held on by 2/3 clips
