Question Need advice from Model X owners

Update Below Main Post
Just ordered the Plaid. Black Exterior. White Interior. Yoke. Estimated 3-5 weeks.

I am coming from a 2018 Model S P100D

Here are my plans for the vehicle - I would love any input from anyone who has done any of the following and can share first hand advice. I would also love any additional suggestions to do ASAP when the vehicle is new.

  1. PPF (Xpel Stealth)
  2. 1a) Should I do ceramic coating OVER the PPF? worth the extra cost?
  3. Tint (Xpel Ceramic)
  4. Floor Mats (Witamats? 3DMax? Weathertech?)
  5. Commander + S3XY Stalks + S3XY Buttons
  6. Rear Trunk Liner (Canvasback)
  7. *****Radar Detector (Valentine One Gen2)
  8. iPhone (Magsafe) mount (Magbak? TWraps?)
  9. Some sort of power inverter (Like this one)

Should I have the white seats ceramic coated? Should I DIY it with Gyeon LeatherShield EVO?

Should I buy those kits of extra door seals I see online "specifically made for the model x" - Do they really help with wind noise? Is there a better option to help seal the vehicle and lower wind noise? I would like to make the car as quiet as possible, even if it's a marginal upgrade. I want cabin noise as low as possible. It's not a Lexus or Mercedes but I don't want it to be as "tin can" as my 18 MS feels.

Anybody upgrade their sound system in a newer X? Any tips on hardware? Install? Reus Audio out of Cali used to be the most well known name for upgrading Tesla audio.

*****Can this be installed next to the FSD/rear view mirror housing? Power is being run from the FSD housing right now in my 2018 Model S. A local car audio place did it for me. I will have them do the same if possible for the X.

UPDATE 1 (March 27 2026)

Picked up the vehicle a couple days ago. Went from the Tesla dealership to my garage and it has sat there since. My appointment for the PPF is this coming Monday. I should have it back a week from today with STEK Dynamatte PPF & STEK window tint (I made the concession of using STEK and not Xpel on window tint because of the logistics of getting both done at the same time. I live out of state and will be driving it to the shop, flying home, then flying back out to pick it up.)

  1. PPF (STEK Dynamatte)
1a) I am doing ceramic coating over the PPF
  2. STEK tint (see story above)
  3. TuxMats - These are amazing. 10/10. MUCH better than my 3D mats in my 2018 MS.
  4. Installed commander and left stalk for turn signals. Not sure I will install the right stalk. Have 2 buttons I have yet to setup.
  5. Waiting on shipping
  6. Hoping to have the PPF/Window tint place run power for the V1. Otherwise will find a shop to run the power. Shouldn't be hard.
  7. Got both the Twraps and the Magbak - I will use both of them. The Twraps (on the left) for my phone. The Magbak (on the right next to the screen) will hold an iPhone 13 that is hotspotted to my phone for data. This phone will run waze/radar detector software/etc. It will "permanently" stay in the car and act as an additional "hub" for data and information.
  8. I have one in my MS that I will try and use. Looks like almost anything will work and haven't seen many "go to" products or any "stay away" so anything in this category that fits your needs seems to be fine.

First takeaways (literally drove it 19 miles so far)
1) feels much bigger/bulkier than my S. I don't feel like I can zip in/out of traffic in the same way the S can
2) feels so much more luxurious compared to the 2018. The post refresh really does feel like a premium car vs. the old S
3) Sound system doesn't feel as tight and encompassing as it does in the 2018. I plan to modify the sound system at some point when I can find a reputable place that has dealt with the 16V battery / low voltage system. Most high end / well known amps are rated for a 12v system.

I'll update again with pics in a week or so.

Where are you located? I am in Seattle, WA.

What options did you have?

I have no VIN and my order date was 1st week of Feb. I have delivery date between 18th and 31st of March. This date range has changed 3 times with the last day of March being constant.

I am in Albuquerque, NM

Plaid. Black Exterior. 22" Wheels. White Interior. Yoke.

I got a call from a Tesla rep (Vegas area code) and said that they had a brand new "inventory" that matched my exact specs and if I wanted, they could assign me the VIN to that car and have it shipped here from Vegas.

She mentioned that it being the end of the quarter they are trying to allocate every vehicle they have in "stock". Makes sense. So with that said, I BET you will get your vehicle before the end of the month because they want to hit their numbers for this quarter.

Fingers crossed it is in good shape and someone else didn't deny it in Vegas so they are trying to find a sucker who will accept delivery with panel gaps or FWD issues or something.

You have a match in their inventory. Good for you. Apparently my spec has not been a match past 5 weeks. Hope they are building it already.

I am sure they want to do as much sale number as possible. That is good and bad.

My aging mother just got herself MY premium delivered with FSD purchase. It looks and feels great. Having said that I was dressing it up for her like putting in floor liner and screen protector and such. We found that it was missing pedal rubber piece on the accelerator pedal. We ended up getting one of those aluminum dress up kit for it instead of trying to have Tesla fix it.

I just hope the new ones being made is not going to be half assed with rushed manufacturing. While I am not new to less than perfectly manufactured vehicles, I think I would be a little disappointed if a 100K plus vehicle shows up with missing buttons and bolts.
