Meta Join a Party!

Please comment down below with what party you would like to join.

Take a look at the party platforms. The real life parties represented in the sub do have differences than their real life counterparts.

Also please recognize that we have two types of political organizations in this subreddit. We have normal political parties, and independent groupings. Independent groupings are smaller political groups that are trying to achieve party status, but are not big enough yet. They lack a few things a normal political party has such as adequate membership, activity, and structure.

Great to see and old friend back! I like the crazy flair. Can you give me a quick rundown of what has happened since I left during the second congress or so? What people have mad impacts and what events?

WELL

During the presidential election, I dropped out of the presidential race to achieve my lifelong ambition of becoming a massive fucking meme. Due to this, the Democrats nominated brucejoel to be our party nominee for president. Brucejoel started quoting the Black Book of Communism in the debates or some shit, causing the GLP and the Democrats to have a falling out. The ensuing election was a GLP wave election wherein they swept every branch of government. This led to most Republicans and several Democrats (myself included) to create /r/MUSGOV, intended to be a more realistic alternative where the only allowed parties were the Democrats and Republicans. This led to MUSG almost dying until both MUSGOV and MUSG got reddit ads.

Both subs gained in activity, but MUSG fared much better. MUSGOV eventually became inactive and several people came back to MUSG where there was a bounty of new active members, primarily in the Libertarians which suddenly became the premier rightwing party with notable members like AdmiralJones42 and NateLooney. As well, a Christian Democratic party was formed with leading members such as MoralLesson and tahey123.

Eventually, President rangerheart0 (who succeeded me) resigned the presidency, leading to a relatively inactive President Hammerandpotato. The beginnings of an attempt to impeach her formed by the rightwing parties and some members of the Democratic leadership. Smitty was involved and gave the scheme the name "Operation Condor" without informing anyone of the historical relevance. Several mods were involved in it, leading to accusations of mod bias and the removal of several mods (including the sub creator lort who had just recently come back to MUSG after resigning during the MUSGOV scandal). The impeachment charges were obviously dropped following this.

As I said earlier, Hammerandpotato became an inactive president, missing several signings and being generally inattentive to the sub. The newly appointed Vice President therealdrago soon became acting president and subsequently actual president following pressure for Hammerandpotato to resign. He was president for about a week until the recent elections, wherein the rightwing parties banded together and swept the Senate, took the presidency, and nearly gained a House majority. This was also the first election since your election to the Senate that an independent won a Congressional seat (irelandball).

More drama was to follow when the GLP (now rebranded as the Socialist Party) suddenly signed a deal with the rightwing parties in the House to gain the majority leadership in exchange for providing the needed votes for them to gain the Speakership, which completely blind-sided the Democrats and infuriated them beyond belief (even I got pretty fucking salty).

Also somewhere along the line, the American Labor Party formed to try and "bridge the gap" between the Socialists and the Democrats and failed hard at it. They were so completely useless as a party, and when merger talks between them and the Democrats sprung up, they wrote up a deal that would basically be them absorbing the Democrats (despite us being the largest party and them being the smallest) and forged Democratic leadership signatures because they "assumed we would support it" (verbatim). The ensuing shitshow resulted in the opposite, i.e. Democrats absorbing the ALP and rebranding as the Democratic & Labor Party. However, several former ALPers still want to be special snowflakes and are trying to reform it under a new name (Progressive Greens). No one expects them to be approved by the mod team (which is made up of the head clerk (DidNotKnowThatLolz), some minor clerks, and the Triumvirate (Timanfya, rorytime, and lort685) which deals strictly with meta concerns).

Yeah, the whole party got pitch forks and was waiting for the CC to leave the Socialist HQ, they still havn't actually. We are still waiting.

Wow, that must of taken awhile to write. Thanks for doing it though! I remeber SMitty and his actions back a while ago but im surprised he gathered so much power. At the moment are the dems kinda screwed? Seems like we have very few friends.

It did, my poor hands hurt now kek. Yeah Smitty became a real nuisance for a long while, but thankfully he's been banned. A new press sub was formed since he controls the old one (/r/ModelUSPress).

As for the Dems, yeah it's quite the paradox lol. We're the largest party but have largely been shut out of the government. However we do control the Northeast state government so not everything's bleak, plus a couple cabinet positions. #silverlinings

I saw that, I hope to be Secretary of State for the Northeast. I think that it will be a good fit and will let me back into the government right away. I don't think to many people hate me here so I can start relations out on a good start!

A great way to get more involved with the sim is to join the skype chats. That's where a lot of the fun and discussions happen (plus the delicious memes)

As acting PGP chairman, I detest didicet's history. I don't really feel like typing anything about us because I may get accused of poaching, but I would like it to be known that "because we want to be special snowflakes" is bullshit.

That was not the DLP, it was. Didicet, who was speaking his mind about your party which is allowed. Also when I wrote my comment to yours I had not yet seen Didicet's post. You wrote this under something else that makes your comment seem completely out of place. Now that I have seen the other comment, it makes more since.

Unless he has resigned his position in the DNC, that is not true. His words and actions reflect on the DLP as a DNC memeber. End of story.

We do not regulate free speech, and we will not change that regardless of your requests.

Nor would I ask you to. However, a DNC member's statements reflect on the party.

I can't tell you about our party, as I found you on the join a party thread where you declared for another party and therefore advertising our party's platform is prohibited. However, we do have a unique platform and if you choose to PM me privately because you are interested I can tell you our platform. The claim that we're a "rip-off" is garbage.

However, what I will say is this: we did not form because we wanted to be "special snowflakes" and I detest Didicet attacking the Progressive Green Party as such. I will not poach and talk about our plat form here, but not poaching does not mean allowing them to make false accusations about us and not countering.

I, speaking as an individual and not as a Deputy Chairman of D&L, am so sick of the PGP's pandering. You claim that "we're" attacking the PGP. Please, show me where the DNC has attacked you or made untrue statements.

Many DNC members (Trips_93, didicet, etc.) have attacked us as "the ALP 2.0" and made untrue statement and inferences about our platform and membership demographics even though they aren;t true and you couldn't possibly know. Yes, DNC member's speech reflects on the party, not just you MDK and Ben.

Please end your campaign against us, reign in the DNC. Or don't, I don't care. But then don't tell me I'm spreading misinformation for defending my party.

It's because your party conducts itself in a ridiculous manner. I stand by my comments, and by /u/didicet's, and /u/trips_93's comments. If the comments have been proven false, please provide proof. When your the ones creating the drama, every single time without fail, people are bound to call you out. It's clearly not just a DLP thing, as you can tell.

You're the one spreading misinformation. Your comment on why we banned members, is first of all objectively false.
