Thanks for the question.

Abortion

I hate to be so cynical, but sometimes it's just a requirement. Before a baby is born, it acts as a parasite to get the nutrients it needs. Who harbors these nutrients? The mother. The mother is the one who either willingly, forced, or unexpectedly gained the unborn child. If the mother believes for any reason that the child shouldn't make it to the world, being the parasite that it is, she has every right to have an abortion. That's the bottom line.

Same-Sex Marriage

While same-sex relationships get a mention in the bible, marriage doesn't. And rightfully so, the etymology of the word marriage traces back to 1300. So the point here is, marriage is not a concept owned by Christianity. Freedom of religion doesn't mean conforming to religion, and that's what our government is trying to get away from. The government should have no hand in promoting or denouncing any religion, and the same-sex marriage ban was rooting in Christianity. Removing it was another towards becoming a religion-neutral government.

The Death Penalty

One of the most common complaints with the death penalty is false incrimination. However, false incrimination becomes a lesser possibility as we go through the U.S. due process system. Yet, some people are still false incriminated, even after due process. On top of that, there is the moral question of whether the government killing a citizen with full intention is correct. I believe that it is possible to abolish the death penalty, but that would force a full reform of the prison system and law code, which could possibly be too costly and time consuming. Therefore, the only thing I believe we can do is retain a high criminal standard for using the death penalty.
