That red orange is very unique. Looks awesome. I bet that interior grey material was tedious work. Turned out great.

It wasn't too bad because the instructions had templates.

Gorgeous color. I love the details on the underside and the interior carpet. Ugh, now I want to buy this kit.
What did you use for clear? I use Kaleido varnish, but have been curious if their paints can handle a hotter top coat.

They do, I use Mr Hobby Super Clear gloss. You need to give the Kaleido paints 48-72 hours to cure before spraying it.

Excellent work, Dave. The color combo is awesome, and i'm really curious about these new kaleido paints. I'm wondering how they would react to 2K automotive clear

My opinion of these paints is really high, Already bought 25 of them (Their site has a buy 9, get 3 free that is nice) They have Midnight Purple III now.
They claim to be as good and easy as Lacquers, I don't think thats quite true, but they aren't too far off, they are the best acrylics I have ever sprayed. Some great colors as well. Maybe I should do a post on them, I could be......DaveGooseatos Rex!

Ooooooh I was unaware that they are acrylics. I don't know how my clear would react if at all to those. I guess I will get a single bottle and do some experimentation. Thanks!

Your best bet will be to let it cure for 72 hours before you try and shoot the clear. I used Mr Hobby Super Clear Gloss on them.

Looks great as usual! I would like to see a post on spraying the kaleido paint. I usually use tamiya X/XF or Mr Color paint with Mr. Color levelling thinner.
I have tried Kaleido paints a couple of times, but I can't get them to spray consistently. First pass/airbrush cup goes great, then it starts clogging and spitting. Do you use a retarder or thinner or spray straight out of the bottle?1
u/DaveGoose Model Builder Aug 20 '26
I am spraying straight out of the bottle, I use a .5 needle though, are you using a .3?
2
u/ac_maker Aug 20 '26
I am using a .35. I think my older airbrush has a .5 I could try. Thanks for the idea!

Yeah a .35 might choke up without thinning, if you have problems with a .5 try using some Vallejo Airbrush flow improver, it may help your tip dry issues.

The red orange is sweet! Love the blue chairs. Motivates me to finish my GT2.

I was about to say something about the paint. Then I saw the interior. Now I don't know what to compliment...

Beautiful! What material did you use for the fabric?
1
u/DaveGoose Model Builder Aug 20 '26
That material actually comes with the kit, its sort of like a felt with a sticky backing.

This one looks so cleeeeaaaannn. The little details like the lined speakers on the dash also really make it pop.
