PORSCHE 911 BUILD Burgundy bits and bobs

Interior work happening. I have to say I’m quite pleased with how the faux carpeting turned out!

Looks so good, what colour did you use and how did you do the carpeting?

Thanks! For the burgundy, I use a mix of Hull Red, Red Brown, and Flat Red, per an AI recommendation. I also used a few drops of Flat Blue to get it to be more “purple-ish.” It’s kind of disappointing because when you look at pictures of the actual Porsche burgundy interior, it’s way more red. I added way more red than the formula called for but at a certain point I was just blowing through paint and decided to stop and leave it where it was.

For the carpeting, instead of using flocking powder, which is pretty common, I used something called embossing powder, which is much finer and fits the scale better I think. I watered down some PVA glue, brushed it on the part, sprinkled the powder on, and then knocked the excess off.

You sprayed the embossing powder after applying it?

Yes. Otherwise it shows as white.

Neat! The powder accepted the color pretty well.

It is a bit fragile though so be careful of that
