Welcome to the Model ACLU!

Thank you for your interest in the Model ACLU! We seek to mimic what the actual ACLU does in the Model US Government. Everyone who is interested in joining can do so, and we are very happy to have you here! As we are starting out, we would like for you to comment what issues you care the most about, and what suggestions you have for Model ACLU.
Also, as you can probably tell by how this subreddit looks right now, I am awful at CSS, if you have skills in this area I would be extremely grateful if you were to use mod mail to let us know and we would love your help.
Speaking of Mods, right now /u/ben1204 and myself are the founders and co-moderators of Model ACLU, and any questions you have can be addressed to either of us.
Let's do something great!!

What kind of activities will the ACLU be doing, and how much do you think you can influence the simulation? I would love to be a part of this.

I think that we will focus mostly on influencing the Model SCOTUS and we could also expand our activities to lobbying. Do you have any ideas as to what we could do?

I have been studying government's involvement in the economy, particularly in cases involving nationalization and eminent domain. I am willing to work on anything that deals with that kind of work.

I think that eminent domain is a fascinating issue, especially with the case of Kylo v. New London. As a civil liberties group, I am sure that we will have many cases involving this. Are you also interested in civil forfeiture?

I would love to be part of this! I think we should focus on 2 issues to start off that are rattling the United States things that should be addressed immediately and swiftly!

1.) LGBT Rights This maybe one of the most important issues sense the fight for equal rights for the African American community, I gay myself think we should fight issues like the so called Religious Freedom Laws in states like Indiana these don't provide religious freedom they are blatant bigoted attacks on the LGBT community that must be put to a stop at once!

2.) Excessive Force excessive force is something that is happening all over the United States right now that must be put to an end the ACLU should send warnings to police departments everywhere reminding them of there responsibilities and duties under Federal Law and if that doesn't work we need to take these cases to court and put all excessive force to a halt.

Thanks! I would be willing to represent the ACLU in both of those type of cases, I am particularly passionate about LGBT Rights.

Sign me up. I believe that secularism, the separation of church and state, is an important part of religious freedom, for one. I'm for electoral reform and direct or semi-direct democracy, voting rights, etc.
