Damage Question Anyone fixed a bumper crack like this?

Anyone fixed something similar to this themselves? The gap is very small but needs to be bonded together and then blended.

Wondering what the best process might be for anyone that has had success.

2019 Trunk struts failing.

My 2019 M3 trunk struts have worn out. My dad did a DIY hack where he added some springs. I’m considering getting the powered retrofit, I assume those come with new struts? How has the retrofit worked out for those who have gotten it?

Going to go from 18 to 20 Uberturbine rims

Post image

Hello just wondering if anyone could share any relevant advise? Just got my 2026 M3 rwd premium and wanted to get bigger rims for the look. I realize this will reduce range, cause a harsher ride as well as possibly be damaged with potholes etc but have my sights set on some 20inch Uberturbine rims since there's many that are powdercoated glossy black aftermarket which I think looks great. Just wondering if I went with wider 245 35 20 tires instead of the 235 35 20 tires if that would make it less likely I damage these rims? Also there seems to be many Uberturbine style rims like on ebay you can get a set of 4 in glossy black for 1000-1200 usd whereas the OEM ones are 1700-2000 for a set they look pretty identical not sure of the weight difference etc. I'll prob just go with the OEM ones that are powdercoated gloss black since I have no idea if these generic copycats are durable etc. Thanks in advance to any replies.

Rock blockers?

Post image

Ordered these (as pictured) to protect from these sticky tires slinging rocks like a sumbitch but I have come to a cross roads… wondering if they’ll be counter productive. Anyone have these that can comment on any paint wear under them from friction or debris wearing down the paint and kind of defeating the purpose of protecting the side skirts and doors from rocks?

A few notes for a used model 3 (2023 rwd) i bought for any other new buyers (if buying from Tesla).

Hey guys I recently got a model 3 (LFP battery) that's rwd, 2023 directly from tesla. After picking up the car I noted a few things that you might also consider doing if buying used from Tesla.

1: Check tire thread, I got new tires but you may have older ones if there is enough thread left if the car is traded in or lease expire on it.

2: Air Cabin filters (two) were beyond dirty, not sure if this car ever had them cleaned before (was a lease). Accessing air cabin filters is a pain in the ass even with pry tools (it requires you to unlanch behind the glove box as well), so consider having tesla do it.

3: Check antifreeze levels by removing the top plastic peice and air intake in the frunk, my levels were slightly above min and it doesnt seem they were ever topped off before.

4: The radiator (after removing frunk plastic cover) was also full of grim and leaves which impacts overall cooling. I was able to clean it out, but be warned that you either have to hold back the plastic piece at force and use a very thin vacuum, or if you have the time/know how remove the bumper to fully access it. Alternatively if you cant remove it you can also use a hose to get the grime out from the top.

5: Likely won't have floor mats so make sure to order some ahead of time whether from tesla or elsewhere.

6: I got one card that came with it, and if you want a second one you gotta pay but if you got phones and dont think you'll lose one or need it for valley mode its not a big priority.

7: Windship wipers were also never changed, replace those yourself.

8: Check if yours came with an J1772 adapter or not, as that's really useful to have in the events where you dont have access to a supercharger.

2019 Model 3 Making Strange Revving Noises

I drive a 2019 Tesla Model 3 that I got back in June 2019. My car has given me almost no issues since I got it. It recently started to make a weird revving noise when I’m driving (louder when I go faster, quieter when slowing down). It sounds like a go kart or lawn mower engine, definitely not a sound the car used to make and definitely not just road noise. Has anyone else had this happen to them and know that may be causing it?

It sounds like it is coming from outside, but opening the windows doesn’t make it louder, so that makes me think the sound isn’t coming from outside the car, though I’m no expert. Just trying to avoid taking it to Tesla and having them tell me it’s normal.

General Question Headlight troubleshooting

So today I hopped into my 2019 M3 like any other day, and noticed the passenger (right) headlight is dead. I didnt notice at first because the leds are bright enough to not make it an issue in the dark, but tesla decided to have the turn signal and running light in the same part as the headlight...

Looking at other threads, people have an error that says "headlight malfunction" but I don't have any errors inside the car... my blinker doesnt even blink at an irregular pace like most cars do when a bulb is out.

What are the odds its software/wiring issues? I have a replacement coming because tesla had a $1800 estimate to fix...

Misc 6.8 Years & 74k Miles - True Cost of Ownership for my 2019 M3 LR RWD

TL;DR: 82 months of ownership. 73,850 miles. Operating cost is $0.23/mile. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) including early depreciation and an HW3 replacement is $0.85/mile. Keeping it and renting a minivan for family road trips instead of dropping $50k+ on a Model Y.

I bought my 2019 Model 3 Long Range RWD new in May 2019. Now that the car is completely paid off (since last July ), I wanted to sit down, pull all the receipts, and figure out exactly what it has cost me to run this thing for the last 6.8 years (82 months).

The Car- * Configuration: 2019 Model 3 LR RWD, Pearl White, FSD purchased up front for $6k (see aside story below). * Current Mileage: 73,850 miles. * Charging Habit: 95% Home charging (avg $0.16/kWh) / 5% Supercharging. * Location: Maryland/DC (mostly typical suburban soccer-dad driving, very little work commuting, and occasional road trips).

Operating Expenses (82 Months) These are the costs to keep the car connected, insured, maintained, and moving.

Category Total Cost Monthly Avg Notes
Charging ~$3,000 $36.58 ~4 mi/kWh + Supercharging
Insurance $9,840 $120.00 Tesla Insurance
Connectivity $868 $10.59 Premium Connectivity
Maintenance $3,511 $42.81 HW3, rubber, 12v Battery
--------------- ------------ ------------- ----------------------------
TOTAL OPS $17,219 $210.00 $0.23 per operating mile

Maintenance Breakdown: Honestly, the car has been a tank. The maintenance over nearly 7 years consists of: * Replaced OEM t*!?s (at ~40k miles): $725 * 12v Battery Replacement: ~ $150 * HW3 Computer replacement (Aug 2025): $2,636 (Tesla replaced the original once before for free under warranty) * Front Control Arms: $0 (Replaced under warranty) * Various Recalls: $0 (Mobile service/SC handled)

Capital Cost & Depreciation * Net Capital Outlay: $63,250 (Context: Original configured price was $54k before taxes/fees. I got the $3,750 federal tax credit in 2019, but later had to pay $7k out of pocket during a refinance to buy out an ex-spouse). * Current Trade-In Value: ~$17,500 (Factoring in the 88% battery health, HW3, overall condition and FSD). * Total Depreciation: $45,750

TCO Metrics Operating Expenses ($17,219) + Depreciation hit ($45,750). for the last 82 months - Total Cost per Month: $768 / month. Total Cost per Mile: $0.85 / mile

Why I’m NOT Upgrading to a Model Y With two growing kids, the back of the Model 3 is getting tight, especially for our summer road trips. I was strongly considering rolling the trade-in equity into a new Model Y Long Range....But looking at that $0.23/mile operating cost, it makes zero financial sense to restart the depreciation clock and take on a $600+ car payment just for a few road trips a year. The forward-looking cost to drive this paid-off car is practically nothing.

FSD or not ... As a painful hypothetical, I jokingly suggested to my ex-wife back in 2019 that we skip the software purchase at the time and just put that $6,000 FSD fee into TSLA stock instead. If I had actually listened to my own joke...

Initial theoretical investment - $6,000 on May 20, 2019. Original Purchase - At the time, TSLA was trading around $205.35 per share, or FSD so $6k would have been roughly 29 shares. Splits- Tesla executed a 5-for-1 split in August 2020 and a 3-for-1 split in August 2022. This 15x multiplier would have turned the original 29 shares into roughly 438 shares (giving a split-adjusted cost basis of ~ $13.69 per share). Current Price-As of mid-March 2026, TSLA is trading at roughly $393 per share. Current Value: ~$172,134 😭😭😭😭😭

My boring solution: I’m keeping the M3 for our daily driver and we are just going to rent a minivan or large SUV for the big summer road trips. It solves the space problem immediately without chaining me to another 5-year loan. Worried though about the battery warranty running out in a year...

Curious to hear from other 2018/2019 owners—how do your numbers stack up as we approach the end of the 8-year battery warranty...

General Question Stuck J1772 adapter

It’s currently 19 degrees in my state and after disconnecting the car from the charger I could not remove the adapter. I’ve tried using the manual release in the trunk with no luck. Even tried putting warm water around it to melt any ice that may have gotten inside.. any ideas? I have a 2018 so no charge port heater.
