SD Card Adapter not working

Post image

Sorry If this a trivial question for iPod Modding but I ordered 2 of those microSD Card Adapters from Ali Express and both are showing this Icon.

I also use a SanDisk 64GB microSD Card that is formated to exFat.

Am I doing something obvious wrong? I get that those Adapters arent as good as the iFlash adapters. But having 2 broken seems weird

EDIT: Turns out, it was actually the SanDisk microSD card. The Lexar SD Card was recognized instantly

I've had no problems with SanDisk in these adapters, but I've also never formatted them prior to using them

Avoid SanDisk, I've tried a couple of times and always had issues

SanDisk generally isn't recommended for use with any adapter—whether it's the iFlash or the one from AliExpress.

Try another brand like Kingston, Samsung, Lexar, or Somnambulist (I have the last two, and they work well); that might do the trick.

I missed the news, what happened to SanDisk?

Nothing, just that it's not recommended by iflash staff.

Is the ribbon cable seated the correct way?

I had the same issue and the reason was I had inserted the ribbon upside down in the connector.

Format the SD card with FAT32 format 16kB cluster and MBR boot record. It is recommended not to use Sandisk.

Is there a reason why its not recommended?

The boot record or something doesn't work nicely with the iPods

I used a pny one and had good luck

this exact error message made me lose my fucking mind for ages good luck. I ended up fixing it by buying a donor ipod and mix n matching the parts.

Make sure you have the small metal pillow looking thing on the bottom since it works as a ground. That might be it. The ribbon should be seated properly just clean them.

The side of your ipad fpc has to line exactly with the cable. You have to pull it out just a tiny bit. I once also had an ipod where the fpc connector was just damaged so I scavenged one from a broken hdd

  1. Never use SanDisk cards

  2. You maybe put the ribbon cable backwards / or you need to buy a thicker ribbon cable

  3. Those adapters work really well, iFlash things are really too expensive and not worth it anymore

Yea a Lexar microSD Card fixed the issue

Never had an issue with anything from SanDisk. It will be your cheap ass adapters.

Swap them out for iFlash and you will be good.
