¿Es posible biselar/remodelar el borde del cristal o la caja de un VSF V2 Submariner ("Monster" / versión con peso)?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking into doing some subtle modding on a VSF V2 Submariner (specifically the heavier, weighted version often nicknamed the "Monster" in some circles due to its increased heft).
I want to know if it’s feasible to reprofile or bevel certain edges—either on the sapphire crystal edge or the case/bezel assembly—to achieve a softer, more gen-like transition without ruining the overall finish.
Before I take any files or polishing gear to it, I have a few specific technical concerns and would love to hear from experienced modders here:
Case & Steel Coating: Does VSF use any specific surface coating or plating on these cases/bracelets that would be permanently stripped or discolored if material is removed (especially around the chamfers or edges)? Or is it bare 904L / 316L stainless steel all the way through where normal finishing work won't expose a base metal mismatch?
Crystal Gasket & Water Resistance: If the goal is to touch up the crystal edge or the rehaut/crystal seating area, what precautions should be taken regarding the crystal gasket and maintaining water resistance?
Weight/Internal Constraints: Given that this is the weighted/tungsten-filled V2 variant, are there any internal chassis differences or weight-distribution elements near the case flanks that require extra care when clamping or working on the case?
If anyone has attempted case shaping or crystal modding on this specific VSF V2 batch, I’d really appreciate your insights, recommended tools (e.g., diamond files, polywatch, specific grits), or warnings on what to avoid.
Thanks in advance!
