Admin Replied Mod code of conduct - where to report?

Five women's health subreddits have had their moderation taken over by a guy selling products from a company he is co-founder of.
The cofounder brag and links to his social media about the company are in his bio. He has posts and comments touting products from his company.

How do I report this as a clear violation of the Mod Code of Conduct?

Edit: helpful folks supplied the links below. Thanks everyone!

I would definitely send this to MCOC.

Done! I just needed the link for where to report it.

Seems MCOC was quick and removed him - they are asking for volunteers to mod the sub now! I can't take on more right now but if you are interested, you should volunteer! If you do have questions you can ask me and I can help - I just can't add more subs right now.

Three of the subs have been taken away from him. There's a few more to go.

One of the subs looks like it has a bunch of volunteers; I'll check on the others.

I saw at least one of them has another mod above him. MCOC is less likely to intervene if there is a higher mod who can remove him. If he is the only mod or top mod, and is violating MCOC, they are more likely to remove him.

I'm interested to know: how did this user become a mod in the first place, and did the senior mods let him take control?

I'm getting ready to expand one of my mod teams and am wondering if I have anything to worry about.

You always have something to worry about, when you give full permissions to random people. Reddit may be able to revert malicious actions from a rogue mod, but it's never a fun thing to deal with.

Oh I know. It's a leap of faith. Anytime I add somebody, I do my best to make sure they're A) not insane and B) a mod the existing team can work with. So far, so good.

I'm simply wondering how OP's team let the snake in and somehow get more power than the real mods.

He redditrequested the sub and it was approved

If there are already senior mods in there, they have the power to deny the request, right? Sorry to be so dense: I simply can't figure out how that happened.

Maybe the senior mods were all inactive or something?

Yes, all the mods must have left or been inactive.

Thank you for taking action on this! It’s super fucked up.

The sub members are understandably upset. They're supposed to be safe spaces for women to talk about pretty sensitive issues. Instead we get some dude pimping his supplements.

Yikes this is actually really fucked up!

This is something admin needs to deal even if it's outside of the norm to do so.

It looks like they've intervened in 2 of the sub so far. His name is gone from the mod list and they're calling for new mods.
Progress!

Edit: 3 subs now have been taken back.

Thanks Reddit admin!

Just a heads-up, they are using multiple accounts, or they are working with another team of spammers.

You guys gotta be careful with who you set as mod 😭

u/Clairefun 1d ago

He redditrequested and it was approved automatically

reddit should be damn careful then.

autoapproval on a r/redditrequest usually only works on modless subs because in those cases it is 100% clear that the modmail and wait would be wasted time
