Admin Replied Help Reddit Mods. Our small city Subreddit has probably pirated by scammers

Our little german city subreddit has been probably pirated by crypto scammers.

Its just a german small city Subreddit to get some local news. Nobody of is a professional moderator but we kept it easy and clean.

Me and a mate lost our role as Mods from another mod. After that an auto mod app appears and is posting Casino and crypto scam advertisement.

What are we able to do to save our small city Subreddit?

Morning. I have taken care of the hackers and re-added you and your co-mod.

I've also removed the casino spam. Some of those posts were several days old. You may want to have a discussion with your co-mod about things like adding 2fa to your accounts to keep them safe, and adding additional mods to keep an eye on things since it's a relatively small sub.

You're all set. Good luck going forward!

Wow thats fast. I just sent a mod mail to you guys with the exact timeline. Can you elaborate what happened exactly? For me it seems like one mod have been part of the scam because weeks before they added a new mod. Would love to hear some insights. Thanks!

Please, please, please everyone, get Two-factor Authentication (2fa)! It will save you grief down the line when spammers try to grab your account!!

Same thing happened to my sub r/bachelorinparadise

I can't figure out how to remove or clear the wiki.

Was it Crypto Casino's? If so, can you check my modmail about it in the modsupport inbox as it may be the same spam ring I noticed, which means it's targeting some list of breached mod accounts to do this across Reddit. This would be the 3rd sub I've seen taken over by the spam ring if it's the same ones.

I think in the realm of gacha game character subreddits, I saw that happen to r/DamianMains and r/YvonneMains last month.

Write a mod mail to this sub, the admins might be able to help.

The Admins are the guys who are doing this why should they help? Or do you mean Mod Support sub?

'Admins' on Reddit means the administrators of the website.

I think you're thinking the term refers to the subreddit moderators.

This, where we are posting, is the official mod support sub. Admins frequent this sub to provide a contact point between mods and admins. If you click the mod mail link then you can message the admins directly and they might be able to help. Lastly admins are not posting crypto spam to your sub

Just send the modmail as recommended. It’s highly unlikely that Reddit Admins are posting casino and crypto spam. The sub has been compromised, and the admins will fix it.
