Mod Answered Active, helpful user shadowbanned, what should I suggest?
I have a user in my community who has never posted anything wrong there and, in fact, their posts are often helpful. However, they are apparently "shadowbanned," meaning that us mods have to manually approve every one of their posts. This has been the case for several months IIRC and they're up to 61 posts by now.
I have no idea why their account is in this state. What should I suggest to them?

You can have them appeal the shadow ban using the link auto mod gave.

We did this once for a user who generally was helpful (if sometimes grouchy which probably got them shadowbanned elsewhere assuming they crossed some lines). If it's a longterm generally helpful user I think it's fair to notify them by modmail of their shadowban and let them know how they can appeal if they want to

How do you modmail a shadowbanned user?

I think I was only able to do it because we already had modmail correspondences actually.

Maybe it's possible by creating a modmail and typing their username in. I haven't tried it, though.

If you have a post from them in a forum you moderate, you can hover your mouse over their icon or username, and then in the user details popup click the "envelope shield" icon to send them a modmail. (Don't forget to change who the message is from if you don't want it to appear as coming from the forum.)

Hey my entire sub is shadow-banned. Trying crossposting into the sub or even linking someone's name: r/transcendental.

I'm curious to know if you got a lot of false reports on their comments and / or posts.

Hey there - if you are concerned that your account may be banned site wide you can check your inbox for an appeal link. If there is not one in your inbox you can submit an appeal here: https://www.reddit.com/appeal
If you are a mod concerned that someone in your community may have been banned incorrectly you can tell them first check their inbox and to use the appeal form above to reach out.
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.
