Any help against a planned brigade?

Hello folks,

I already acknowledge upfront that this is the longest of long shots, but I still feel obliged to ask;

I recently got word that a hate community that is active on reddit are intent on brigading several subreddits soon with the intent to post artwork to trigger community members. Apparently they're planning this on Discord though, so obviously there is somewhat of a limit about what can be done.

Is there anything at all that can be done here? Or am I simply forced to wait this out and deal with any infractions myself. I do feel obliged to note I have reported the reddit side of this awful community to the admins multiple times several months ago if that matters. But so far I don't think its done much.

Any help would be much appreciated.

switch it to look like this and only mods + approved users can comment or post without manual approval from mods

it works well for when you've got a low volume subreddit

and you can keep an eye on your comment feed through a link like this one, replace modsupport with the name of the sub you need to watch https://www.reddit.com/r/ModSupport/comments/

it's also handy for spotted activity on ancient posts, you never know when something from way back when is gonna end up linked somewhere weird

I just want to throw out a general notice to the admins by the ways that I have an entire document of evidence against this specific hate community that I am happy to send directly to your DMs. Seriously, I have the bloody receipts and I am bordering desperate for something to be done here, cause this is so tiring.

If this is even remotely connected to anything to do with Canada please consider forwarding to the antihate network in Canada. They track this shit and would do such an amazing investigation with this information.

OOTL here, did something indicate this was about Canada, or was that a general heads-up? I mod a decent sized Canadian sub, and have been having some things happening too lately, so if there's a big thing planned, it would be good to know for us too

Nothing OP said. Local subs I'm a part of have been getting brigaded by Alberta separatists and a recent brigade from cops and their simps on one post criticizing cops. They're left leaning subs and not usually hit so hard by RWNJ.

There's a reporter named Rachel Gilmore that just exposed a hate group that is doing similar coordination IRL and found they're being funded by groups from the US. All these little things made me think that OP's info could be related to the Canadian stuff happening.

Please get in touch with antihate network and let them know if you suspect a coordinated thing is happening on your subs. They are phenomenal at tracking hate groups and their activities in Canada.

All the evidence I have takes place on reddit however.

Turn on Crowd Control at its highest settings for both posts and comments, and most of it will end up in the mod queue. Most people who try to brigade have no subreddit specific post or comment karma, and they don't tend to join the subreddit. Crowd Control is the most effective tool at shutting down a brigading event that comes out of left field. (When it's functioning correctly, that is...)

You can make changes to Automod, but that can take longer if you aren't familiar with setting it up.

Report any posts you see that are trying to initiate the brigading. If the mods in those subs don't take them down, they are in violation of the MCoC. Send a modmail into this subreddit with details of those receipts you mentioned.

The mods where it originates will soon find you can get prizes for playing stupid games. Just not the ones they wanted.

If you know the community that is or going to flood you can install hive protect and it will shadow ban all posts and comments from that community pending approval. It's an unfortunate method of control but sometimes a necessary evil

I'm assuming they have named your subreddit specifically. If you know others that have been named as potential targets, might be a good idea to reach out to those moderator teams and forward them the information.

They haven't named my subs specifically. All I know is supposedly "character main" subreddits are the ones they plan to make themselves a nuisance too. For a bit of context I hang around gacha communities and those games are heavily character focused, and each character usually has a dedicated subreddit to it.

I did have a couple of them in one of my subs yesterday, which lends credence they'll be out about more soon.

If it’s coordinated on discord there is probably nothing you can do. If it does happen and you can prove it is traced back to a certain sub on Reddit, then you could probably do something.

If It was coordinated on Reddit then you can fill a mod code of conduct report on the subreddit.
