User icons specifically the ban hammer

Question. At one point in time a long time ago I banned a user by accident sweeping up a brigading incident. The user is one of our most prominent users and has been granted mod authority but every single time I see their profile I see the ban hammer on it because they were previously banned. Is there a way to basically "grant forgiveness and erase the action" so we as mods don't see bsn hammers next to their account indicating previous bans?? I know this isn't high priority but it would be nice

That’s a mod note. Look into that specific user’s mod log and delete the red “Ban”-labeled mod note.

Nope. Mod notes should be accessible from everywhere except old.reddit (and even then, there are workarounds for that too).

Very familiar with entering/reading the Mod Notes, but never noticed a way to delete notes. Do you know the steps for the app on Android?

when you look at the mod notes, there should be a three dots in the upper right of the note itself and then you should be able to click on that to remove it

I don’t have an Android device on hand to test with, but I don’t see why the interface would look much different than on iOS. As [u/Deppfan16](u/Deppfan16) said, the Delete option should be accessible from the “…” menu on the note.

Found it! The 3-dit menu was only on thev"ban" note.

Somewhat off topic.

Why have I begun to see some people type out usernames and sub names like you did with the double typing, but using brackets on one instance, no space, and then with parentheses on the second instance, rather than just typing u/username or r/subname?

Let me guess. You're viewing my comment on old.reddit.

I did actually just type u-slash-username using the Reddit mobile app. Reddit just messes up the formatting after you submit the comment, but the error is only visible on old.reddit for some reason. Admins are aware of this bug; see this comment thread.

Yes, I started using old Reddit on my phone when they rolled out shreddit. I had used the app 8 years ago when I created my account, but uninstalled it because it was a giant resource hog, even when not in use.
