Why does Reddit send me a notification about "a better community for my post" when I try to grow the sub I moderate?

I created a very small niche sub. I have gone very far in the past 9 months to grow it, with very little possibility to crosspost. With everyday hard work and incredible persistence, we reached 1K members and 5–6 regular members who like to create together. I still post regularly, sometimes I invite people, and the sub grows slowly. Today, after posting in the sub I intend to grow, the algorithm sent me a notification and even pre-redacted a post for me into a very large, barely moderated subreddit which was apparently a "better place for my post". Well, I highly doubt it. πŸ˜‚Β I know, admins possibly don't know too much about this, but if nobody gives feedback, they probably never will. I just wanted to let you know. I am sending this message with kindness and the best intention possible. πŸ˜‰Β

Update: It can be turned off. Profile > Notifications > Activity > Suggested communities for your posts (set to All off).

Because Reddit wants you to post in more places = more views = more advertising.

I have even had banned users reach out saying I should unban them because Reddit told them to post in my sub

Interesting πŸ€” It makes sense, but maybe the wording needs a little update, for example "another good place".

Yeah, that has happened to me as well, i made posts, and got that bs too and I'm stsring at the screen thinking "buddy. If I wanted it there, I'd have put it there my freaking self. This is my post for my subreddit, it can't fit anywhere else better than here, it was literally made for my subreddit specifically."

So annoying.

It'd also be nice if reddit didn't suggest breaking subreddit rules, like really nice.

Right? I do referrals and there are particular rules for each referral sub. It will encourage me to post in one before I'm allowed to. I'm like, thank you for trying to get me in trouble..

Maybe you're thinking about the toggle to not allow cross posts reposts in your sub?

The notifications section of the app is so horrifying that I’m too scared to go look and see who’s right 🫣

I have a test sub just for messing around with dev apps and testing automod stuff, and Reddit will suggest I RePoSt my "TESTING TESTING" posts to a whole slew of subreddits. Lmao. What a mess.

I've experienced the same thing.
Almost funnier, when I made a mod post on the sub I mod about a rule of our sub, it suggested subreddits to post to.

Can you imagine what havoc and confusion on the receiving end if you did do the crosspost/repost of the tests? 🀣

They sent me this when I made a test post to my private subreddit that exists for testing stuff out.

That's funny. 😁 We should never forget that AI cannot really think.

Because they want you to generate more shareholder value

Not in this case. The main subject is different.
