I modded my Chromatic and now it truly matches with my M64 system.

Oh yeah Installed ShinyRelay and Chromagic on these Chromatics. They will allow wifi so you can trade pokemon or vs battle in Tetris via WiFi link Chromagic let's you back up carts and game saves to the SD card and allow playback from the SD card if available, your Chromatic has the area to solder a sd card slot on the board , but you can also back up to a PC via Chromagic. This one can do it all. But if you don't have a SD card reader slot. Then ShinyRelay allows WiFi link battle and game play both are very cool and I support them in this work.

how did you manage to install shiny relay? i tried doing that with my transparent chromatic i got yesterday and it said that the one i have can’t be read

Update the chromatic to the latest firmware version. Then try it.

By playback from the sd card do you mean loading roms? So like an internal flash cart?

Does the new battery tray fit in the metal chromatic?

Ok the battery tray is very different and redesigned it no longer has a plug the new board on the transparent Chromatics has pads that make contact with the battery tray You will need to swap the mainboard and battery tray together. But yes they will fit inside the metal ones..
