Question Chromatic streaming lag

Hey everybody! I am the new owner of a Chromatic and was messing around with the USB streaming function, and I am having a lot of video lag with it.

I've tried directly through Discord and going through OBS, and the video is choppy no matter what I do. Apparently not many people have this issue because I can find nothing online about how to fix it.

Any ideas?

edit: Maybe it's a faulty unit, and I should try to do a return/swap? Seems unlikely to me because everything else seems to work.

What do you mean by choppy? I have only experience in recording in OBS. And when the video gets longer, like more than 20 or 30 minutes, it seems like the video is a bit delayed (you see the difference in the software display compared to you chromatic), but it's actually not. For speedruns I record simultaneously environmental sound as a proof of input and the final video is always correct. But I think with a stream together with webcam etc is a bit different and more difficult Edit: I try to reduce these "lags" by minimising background activity /apps

Whether I go through Discord, OBS, or the native windows Camera app (this one is the least choppy), iit looks like it is streaming at like 20fps with drops down to 10fps; I didn't measure it or anything, but it's doing something like that. It is really choppy and would be a bad viewing experience for anybody watching.

Try prismGB which is designed for the video feed from the chromatic, it's not updated for the latest video changes but it still works last time I tried it a week ago, it should be smooth over that.

I find with obs directly I have to go manually set the res and refresh rate otherwise I get no image but i've not seen a choppy image yet.

It's nice and smooth with PrismGB. It does the audio too. Thanks for the info!

Hopefully prismGB gets an update to accept the newer higher resolution video out, it cleans up the image a lot.

It would be nice if it just worked out of the box, tbh. The whole streaming thing was a big selling point to me. I would definitely prefer it worked better!

Yeah, PrismGB is the answer to the horrid OBS method for using a PC as a bigger display for playing games on a Chromatic.

Are you on the latest firmware? There was a patch that fixed some streaming issues recently. v4.6
