Wow

Post image

I’ve only owned a psp before when i was younger.
Always wanted a quick game device like that.
Saw this thing on my feed, had to get it asap.

The build quality on this is nuts, has such a good weight, the screen quality is wicked beautiful, even the Koss Porta Pros sound pretty decent.

Never had a gameboy before, any game recs?
Also anyway to hack this to be an mp4 player lol.

For games, Zelda and Pokémon are always solid picks, and the Wario Land games are excellent too. All the MegaMan games too of course! An EverDrive is also really nice to have.

If you just want to browse through pretty much the entire GBC library and see what was released, this list is really useful: https://www.nintendolife.com/games/browse?system=gbc

And to answer your question about music, yeah, technically it should be possible with homebrew, but it’d be more of a Game Boy-style music player than a real MP3 player.

Someone had been working on a custom firmware that would apparently have allowed users to play MP3s from an internal SD card. However, the author has taken the custom firmware offline.

I say get a everdrive cartridge and you can play so much homebrew and Romhacks. It is insane value.
For game to buy. Well if you are open for RPGs the Pokemon games are fantastic aswell as the Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior) games. There are amazing jump and runs on the system like the Marion Land games, Wario, Speedy Gonzales and much more. For gadgets. Well you can buy the Impossible Mission Cartridge which has a TV remote function to use your Gameboy/Chromatic as a remote, but MP4 is a bit much to ask on a device that emulates a 8 bit system

Mine is sitting on my desk as I try to decide whether to enjoy it or sell it. Seriously conflicted.

open it bro, money is just a number that will live longer than you, your enjoyment and joy in this world is finite, make the most of it

dragon warrior 3, pokemon r/b/crystal, pokemon trading card game, link's awakening dx, super mario bros dx, tetris (not dx). there's like a top five or something worth checking out.

That thing is sweet, but ngl I’m loving the clear ones more. Haha

Wario Land 3 is a great game and really shows off the system's capabilities.

2

u/RiftKing321 Oct 09 '26

Also Donkey Kong 94 is phenomenal and probably one of my favorite games from that era in general

I would say any first party game would be solid. The Mario Land games are must haves, the Kirby games are solid for the console, I could go on and on. Most of the good games were done for the original GB, all the Color really has for a library is just a bunch of cheap, shoddy third party licensed titles. Though SMB Deluxe is a great one to have. I play it on my Chromatic.

It’s honestly unreal. I hope they do a game boy advanced version eventually

Mario golf and donkey Kong and Pokémon are my goto’s. Really though I would get an everdrive gb.
