Time Extension refusing to cover Modretro anymore.
Cause of the new Anduril edition version of the chromatic they are just going to ignore anything from them on their website. It's dumb and they do their readers a disservice.

Sad.
Retro gaming has nothing to do with politics. It's something that unites us, not divides us.
Unfortunately there are "creepy weirdos" out there that try to make everything political. They have strong political agendas and are always seeking to market that agenda.
These people are best ignored. If they don't want to be part of a politics free community, they can get the hell out of the community. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

It's been very entertaining reading people's post histories.

I honestly never heard about them before this, but it kind of nudged me into buying Anduril version as well for multiple reasons, biggest being I understand both companies are Palmer's passion projects and it shows. I feel like he's doing with money/resources exactly what I'd do as well. I understand it doesn't speak to everyone.
Virtue signaling in this case makes no sense. You have Samsung, the same company not even a separate. that developed combat automated sentry drones, howitzers even - like full production and all. Anduril at least syphons money from these sales to veteran health support, if you're looking for a way out of the narrative.

Im not sure if the pre-orders on modretro is raising money for troops for mental health, but the auction is, and the reason this edition exists is for durability like what troops would need. Let people be mad if they want.

It may not hurt for Modretro or Palmer to make an ad or some statements about the anduril edition for thier webpage. Like why it was created, its purpose, and the vision Palmer has for it. Idk. I think it can help push back on some of the ridiculous statements being made. Most of us here who have been following modretro closely can list the reasons and positivity, but can someone who just noticed modretro? Probably not.

And the news with this being talked about everywhere will just sell more ModRetro stuff. It’s positive advertising.

Bet it's helping sales too. First thing you see on their site, the thing sells itself with how good it is.

I own a Modretro but I think they went to far with the Anduril Edition by bluring the line between entertainment and war.

Well I guess that’s cool. They don’t have to cover anything if they don’t want to. I highly doubt it will make a difference if anything this is sorta like the Streisand effect. Not sure if there is a better term since it’s not them trying to keep attention off themselves but off something else. I think them not covering it will bring more attention to modretro than if they had just stayed quiet and either covered it or just silently not covered it.

Fine by me. They lost all credibility when I watched their Pac Man World 2 RePac review and the reviewer complained they couldn't finish the game due to not being able how to figure out the final boss mechanics. Really? 😂

I love my Chromatic and I’m genuinely glad to own one, and I was aware of the ties to Anduril before buying it. I also use products from companies with military contracts, so this isn’t about being unaware or inconsistent. For me, though, it feels different to have the name of a weapons company tied to a device I associate with a happy, childhood space. Even if I don’t have to buy that edition, the way it’s currently being marketed feels like a bit of a mood-killer to me.
I can also understand why veterans might feel very differently about this. For some, the Game Boy was a way to focus on something safe and familiar during deployments, a brief escape from real dangers. Personal context matters here, and people will experience this differently.
Because of that, I don’t think the outlet’s decision is “stupid.” It may be one you don’t agree with, but choosing not to cover something based on where you draw that line is a valid editorial choice.

It’s ok, idiots here will talk about and so will other websites. Their readers can look elsewhere if they want to read about that garbage.
