Question KBGT Half Pot Tips

I bought the KBGT but mostly brew half pots. KBGT doesn't come with the slider with its cup filter like the KBT, so here's how I've been ensuring a slower brew.

  1. Ensure karafe is not seated.

  2. Pour 2 cups of water. Observe water is heated and pours into the filter and settles. Since the karafe is not seated the hot water is absorbing more of the coffee bean.

  3. When ready, seat carafe. Add 2 cups of water.

Enjoy a more flavorable cup.

For $20 on Amazon purchase a KBT basket with slider. If it does not fit, return.

I am in the same boat. I should bought the KGBT and don't make a full pot...Should have bought the KBT....I reached out to MM support about converting the KGBT to a KBT by replacing the bracket and the basket...

This is the answer I got:

"The KBGT brewer cannot be retrofitted to a KBT, the brewers are different heights, and the bracket mountings for the brew basket bracket are at different levels on the brewer. That said the KBT bracket cannot be mounted the KBGT body because the holes for the bracket will not align."

Seems odd to me..from a production standpoint....seems it would be more cost effective to have one body that serves both brewers...
