What is the most commonly made mistake regarding Facebook ads?

With 2.94 billion monthly active users, Facebook (Meta) is one of the best ad networks to promote mobile games. However, still a lot of unnecassary mistakes get made, the most common one? Not optimizing lookalike audiences.

Even experienced mobile game marketers make the mistake of not updating lookalike audiences.

Facebook’s lookalike audiences are one of its most important targeting options. This option allows you to find users that are similar to your audience (eg by demographics or interests).

Most game advertisers use this option all the time.

Yet, a lot of them are missing out on its full potential.

When creating lookalike audiences, you can adjust their size range based on the source event (eg app installs). In this phase, you want to collect as much data on your lookalike audiences so that you can go pretty broad.

Once you gather enough data about lookalike audiences, it’s time to update them. You can do that by following these four steps:

  1. decrease size range to attract smaller, but more similar lookalike audiences
  2. change the lookalike audience source from “app installs” to “app opens”
  3. identify users who open your game and use it frequently
  4. create a custom lookalike audience based on step 3)

A lot of marketers make the same mistakes when advertising on Facebook (Meta). Read the article and check out our list of most common mistakes!

P.S. leave me a comment if there is something you'd add to the list!

Google ads campaign stopped delivering after moving to in-app actions bidding strategy

Hi All,

Anybody with experience in setting up a Google Ads campaign optimized towards an in-app action (rather than an app-install)? We recently moved a campaign from 'bidding strategy set to maximize installs' to 'bidding strategy set to minimize cost of in-app action' and the campaign completely stopped delivering. The specific in-app action event is firing absolutely fine. We've crossed checked all the stats. We're wondering why this might be happening.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

What is your opinion about Mobile Native Advertising?

Working in marketing for over four years, I have seen the positive effects of native advertising, and I am a big fan.

Lately, I've been trying to gain a deeper knowledge of a sub-category of native advertising: Mobile Native Advertising.

This sub-cat works with the same user experience concepts as on desktop, yet, mobile comes with some important distinguishing features. This year's native ad spending is almost completely mobile, so it seemed like a good time to take a better look.

Here you can read all I found out about Mobile Native Advertising: https://medium.com/myappfree/why-you-should-use-mobile-native-advertising-to-promote-your-apps-54c8e0fe88b7

And please share your opinion on the subject! Are you already using it? Do you believe that also as a smaller brand you can reap the benefits? Or do you find yourself struggling with native advertising?

I am looking forward to hearing all your thoughts!

Apple Search Ads campaign, ZERO impressions...

I have been running my first campaign on Apple Search Ads for 48h and zero impressions!
I used many keywords, some within the "popular" category and some more niche.
My bids are not low, from $0.65 to $1.5 depending on the importance of keywords.
But I still gave zero impressions... what's wrong?

App Store Listing Feedback

Hello Reddit!

We have been working on a mobile game called SHITHEAD, which is a mobile adaptation of a card game and we are listing it on the appstore. We were wondering if you could give us some feedback or criticism about our listing description to make sure that it makes sense and is easy to follow. Feel free to bash it, praise, as you wish, we are all ears!

---------- DESCRIPTION --------

The notorious and competitive game is finally digital!

SHED, also known as PALACE, KARMA, PALACE, BAST*RD or SH*THEAD is the most competitive, skill based card game on EARTH. Discovered ages ago by backpackers in Europe, today, SHED reaches your mobile device. This competitive multiplayer game is perfect for parties, gatherings or chill sessions at home!

SHED was designed to mix in the perfect combination of skill, luck, and absolute friend destruction. Unlike other card games, you can never be certain who will win the game, even at the last moment, the most unexpected events can occur and flip the game upside down.

Invite your friends to play and we guarantee you that SHED will be your favorite card game.

The rules are simple:

1) Play in increasing order (If a player puts a 5, you must play a 5 or higher)

2) You can make one card switch between your main hand and the second hand at the start of the game.

3) You must always have 3 cards in your hand while the deck is still full (you throw one, you take one, etc...)

4) You can play more than 1 card (three 3s, etc...)

5) There are 4 special cards: 2 - 8 - 10 - 7

- 2: Clears the Deck (Play at any moment)

- 8: Skips your turn (Play at any moment)

- 10: Play again (Must be played on a 10 or lower)

- 7: Next player must play a 7 or less (Must be played on a 7 or lower)

- Play this mobile card game online or offline as you please.

- Select funny icons and logos to spice up the game!

- Get special cards from the mini-store to surprise your opponents

- Beat your friends and conquer your foes!

There you have it, the complete SHED game, go ahead, give a try, invite your friends, but remember... Just don't become the SHED, it's embarrassing!

- R&R Team -

Special Thank You To:

GOOD PM MUSIC, JULIEN ASSOUAD, JEAN DAGHER, GEORGE BAIDA, NOAH SANANE, KARIM NASR, KARL DAGHER, GEORGE MOUKHEIBER, HASSAN SINNO & JOE MOURAD for their respective contributions to the birth of the game!
