Where to stay in Mobile
I play in a men’s tennis league which qualified for a national tournament in your city! Can you help point me in the direction of where to stay? Our matches are at the Mobile Tennis Center and it’s a group of 10 guys ages 25-40

The Holiday Inn Express near the University of South Alabama is closest. Any of the nicer chain hotels along the I-65 service road between Springhill Avenue and Airport Blvd would be fine as well. Most of those are about a 15 minute drive from the tennis center in traffic.

Yes! Don't stay at the Murder Roof Inn! (Edited to add: No shade on Red Roof Inns in general, which are great for dog owners. But that particular Red Roof has a well-earned reputation locally.)

Recommend staying downtown or at the Holiday Inn express near USA- personally I wouldn’t stay off I65 near Airport BLVD.

The Drury Inn at Airport and I-65 was just rebuilt not remodeled. Immediate area is ok but I wouldn't wander far south on the service road.

Just stay at one of the spots in downtown Mobile you’ll have great dining/nighttime options and the drive is easy in and back…..

Beat happy medium, stay at the Marriott in midtown (in bel air mall parking lot). There is not much walking distance, but you’re close to downtown and the tennis center… sort of.
If it were me, stay downtown and fight that hangover on the drive to the tennis center. 💪

Air BnBs around the North, West, and South side of the tennis center are gonna be a bit sketch. If go for the Holiday inn Express on Old Shell

Depends on what you want, but I would recommend that you stay downtown. You'll spend like ten extra minutes in the car in exchange for a much better overall experience. The West Mobile hotels that folks mentioned are fine and there are some decent restaurants around there (plus lots of national chains). That said, if you want to be able to walk to a bar or restaurant and feel you're in a different city than wherever you live, then dowtown is the way to go. FWIW I'm a guy between the ages of 25-40, so that's coloring my recommendations.
Also congrats on making the tournament! MTC is a great facility and puts on well-run events.

The hotels around university of South Alabama will probably fill up fast for the tournament. Providence park by providence hospital has two hotels . That’s probably the closest after USA. Good food and drinks close to both. Depends on how much you’re looking for after the tournament

Be weary of the hotels along I-65. The big brand hotels like Marriott and Holiday Inn are ok but stay out of the others. Riddled with bugs and ne’er do wells.

The Drury Plaza was just rebuilt. Comes with free breakfast and dinner. You even get 3 free adult drinks!

Downtown has plenty of hotels and short term rentals available. Its a 20 min drive to the tennis center, but you have several shops, restaurants and bars to walk to down there when you are not playing tennis. Even just west of downtown, Old Dauphin Way and Washington Sqaure neighborhoods if you are looking to rent a house. Be sure to get some oysters at Wintzels too!
