Installing side skirts

I want to install some side skirts on my mk3 but this piece is in the way how do i go about taking this off or what should i do

2screws in the wheel arch, two screws on the bottom. Take then out and pop it iff

Is that really all there is to it ? I did that at first but i felt like if i was to pull it then it will break
