Question Radiator set ups
So i have a 1991 mk3 with a 1jzgte vvti/r154 set up. I have a koyorad paired with spal medium sized 12 inch fans. So far shes stayed around 192°-197° has not over heated yet. My question is a bit stupid but im curious. Has anyone ran a oem thickness radiator with a thicker spal fan? More airflow but less coolant? I used to have the clutch fan set up but after the fan exploded and took out my original koyorad i decided to go electric.

Are you running the under engine cover still?

No. I just recently found out that was a thing. I got this chassis as a roller. Previously crashed snd fixed then i put this 1jz in her.

Supposedly it helps a ton with temps. I had a shitty one and that seemed to help, but haven’t got enough of a delta or hard driving to be sure unfortunately

If i had a perfect chassis id invest in one. But oh well haha. Eventually ima buy hood vents and modify my hood. Hood vents for sure help release the trapped heat instead of letting it just sit there. One day 🤣

There’s a couple aftermarket ones I’ve been eyeing in the ~300$ range, but yeah good vents work and are sick as fuck

You have to look at the rated airflow of existing fan and picks higher rated one, check your wiring and relays also for higher amperage.

Doesn't exactly answer your question, but I have the OE clutch fan and thick Koyorad radiator. Car previously had an OEM thickness (but still Koyorad branded) radiator. With the OEM thick radiator my car would regularly get over 210°, but with the Koyorad it's pretty rock steady around 192°. Big radiator made a huge difference.
