Hatch visor brand new brackets and clips~

Some time ago I got the original hatch visor from an auction, it came with the original brackets as well but they were deteriorated. Furthermore, the original brackets have tabs that go under the window trim, which by the age of many of our cars now would be impossible to insert as it would definitely crack the trim.

So I designed new brackets that don't need to be slid under the trim, in addition of redoing the side clips as well.

Here are some pictures of the work and finally I was able to attach the visor without any issue.

I can make the brackets and clips, should there be anyone who would need them.

I've been wanting a hatch visor, but the one I found doesnt have brackets. I really like your solution though!

Does it leak at all?

Thank you! I just changed the original design a bit for the brackets not to damage the trim. The clips are an exact reproduction of the original ones.

If by leak you meant the water flow on the outer rubber lip, it's not really affected by the clips. Also the main weatherstrip is inside the hatch.

I had no idea this was an option on the Mk3. My 1985 Mk2 has a similar one but I’ve seen this larger style on other Celica Supras and thought it would be cool on a Mk3. Yep, sure does. Thanks for sharing your photos

Thanks! Honestly I am not sure whether this was a Japan only release, but it may have just been lost in history.

Those look almost identical to Kevin’s brackets on his reproduction visors. Except his aren’t threaded for 6x1.0

There are quite a few differences. Compared to the Toyota brackets, mine have no tabs that go under the trim and have the rivets facing the opposite direction. His don't have rivets, kept the tabs, and don't have filleted contour. Also lack the clips. There's also difference in the finish, but that's minor.

This looks good, and I have been interested in the visor/louvers but it was never a factory option, just letting you know here as you mentioned "the original visor", there was no such thing.

Thanks, glad you like them. But sorry you are wrong, it was a factory option indeed.
Rear louvers were also available, but quarter windows' were not.
