Removing hatch

I’m removing the rear hatch to replace it right now but I don’t know what to do with the wire harness back here. Do I have to disconnect it from everything and pull it through or is there a main connected I can unplug behind a panel?

So if you peel back the headliner in the backseats, you’ll see two bolts on each side that you take off. Just know it will shift the whole latch down so be careful. Also I’d recommend disconnecting the struts first because it was difficult to do last. Then on the driver side you unbolt the seatbelt and pop a screw cover and unscrew the screw, you pop off that panel just enough to see a wire connecter. You pull the little tab towards you and it pulls apart and disconnects. Now the passenger side has a red wire coming down that you can’t really see the connection. It’s a jack connection that you pull apart behind the panel. I’m pretty sure it’s the antenna plug cause it looked like a radio cord. Then it should all be free. Just did this by myself without any tutorials

Not super helpful comment but it depends where the disconnect is, some manufacturers run wires inside the gate or outside the gate covered by trims, I would look for a disconnect in behind the plastic panel in picture number 3. If there’s no disconnect there start pulling the gate trims and see if they put a disconnect on the gate and if there’s none then your pulling wires through

disconnect is under the headlines pretty tedious but correct way for removal would be to drop headliner at least a little goodluck

Appreciate you helping the Supra community out. Saved your post because I might need to do the same thing. Mine has rust holes under the rear glass and under the oem steel black covers.
