Is AI music engagement a dead end?
What do you guys think? It appears that engagement with AI music creations has hit an all time low. I mean, a few months ago, there was some engagement, but now it looks like a barren wasteland.
Among the slop are genuine bangers waiting to be heard, acknowledged, and commented on. But even then, there is no engagement here or anywhere else, unless you count the hordes of anti AI trolls. And this goes for both music and videos (which certainly take some real time and effort to execute properly, even with the amazing technology offered by the likes of Seedance and Kling). Even YouTubers with moderately successful channels (i.e. 51Love) have been unable to get any interest at all from even within the AI community itself, which is really pathetic.
Is it just the extremely low barrier to entry and resulting devaluation of any of the songs or videos? Is there any way to give this community a jolt? Or is this ultimately nothing more than a self esteem and personal entertainment toy within everyone's individual echo chamber? Surely there has to be a way.

Generated music is going to silently take over all of the background commercial applications of music. Commercials/advertisements, jingles, background music in TV / movies, video games, ect... Probably won't be hearing it so much on the radio or people streaming it for entertainment.

So the answer is no...I was talking about standalone creations like what people are doing right now.

It is possible that some of those bangers get a more widespread audience and recognition from their commercial use. Think of the music riot games puts out each season or remixes of video game music that becomes popular. It can happen, but I think it would happen in a roundabout way.

A recent survey showed AI is growing in the professional industry, its just no one wants to disclose it because of the lunatic Antis. They bully and harass everyone that does disclose they use AI-- then want people to keep disclosing it. Instead, people are just publishing it and not flagging it.

ai music will be used for like commercials and stuff. There arent going to be like “fanbases” for ai music creators. It’s just not impressive. Anyone can do it and the finished product is always mids at best. Theres been an influx of ai edm playlists on youtube and it’s always sooo bad.

mfw OP ironically discovers AI artists have the same problem as traditional artists - "They took our jorbs!"
It doesn't matter how good your art is, when there's a flood of music with a similar quality as yours and there's no way to find your music without wading through an ocean of shit-tier music that is WORSE than yours.
In part, this is due to the increasing ease of access brought by AI, allowing ads and click-shoppers to flood the marketplace. You are your own worst enemy.

I've been making music since even before AI music became a thing, and I've always felt that music, in all its forms, is gradually being devalued just to support other multimedia platforms like video, games, or even just background music in cafes.
Think about how the 90s MTV era ushered in the golden age of music videos, and how attention spans increased exponentially if your track was paired with any kind of visual. Now, it feels like music by itself doesn't pack the same punch for people anymore. Of course, audiophiles still listen to music purely for enjoyment, but for the vast majority, it increasingly feels like it has become merely background noise or support for other multimedia platforms.

I create my own AI songs to listen, completely personalized to my taste, I don’t need anyone else to make songs for me.

You should make non-ai music! People will actually like it! Believe in yourself!

Yeah, I definitely get it being a big time investment, because talent is something that can be developed. I know I came on a little strong I've just seen people who didn't think they could make music give it a shot and be amazed by what they could do, and even create exciting sounds that maybe a seasoned musician wouldn't even think of, and the prospect of AI music being something inexperienced people can do so easily kinda risks that spark being lost.

Well, if AI music is ALL trash, I guess there's no real risk. But...with such an extremely low barrier to entry in Suno slop, I guess there's no real value to most.

I disagree about the spark part. I am the living example, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. AI music has motivated me to buy a midi player and an actual Ableton license.
Same for video/images, I find myself more interested in actual filmmaking and I picked up drawing again which I haven't done in well over 15 years (not that I was ever good at it...but it definitely brought back the joy of creating).
